17: Beach

"Thank you appa, for sending me here," Sungjae says to his father who has driven him to the airport. They take out Sungjae's luggage from the car.

"No worries, son. Take care of yourself well there," Bogum replies.

"Sure, appa. I'll call you when I've arrived there. See you," Sungjae bids goodbye.

"See you. Safe flight," Bogum replies while waving his hand to Sungjae. He goes back to the driver sit right after Sungjae is lost from his sight.

Sungjae decided to travel to Melbourne after kept feeling uneasy. Why Melbourne? Sungjae was impressed by the beach that Joy showed in her dream. He still remembers how he's feeling at that time vividly. So here he is now, at the airport, going to Melbourne to visit the so-called St. Kilda beach. Hoping it will give the same peace as it did in Joy's dream because his anxiety keeps attacking him.

Joy is feeling happy that she has finally finished all of them. She takes a break today just to spend her entire day on St. Kilda beach. It's been a while since she went there and today, the weather is perfect to be enjoyed there. Sunny and below 30C. She hopes to see a beautiful sunset later. Joy packs some snacks, ties her hair up, wears a cap and off to the beach.

She sits on the beach for a while, then goes to the end of the pier to sit there. As she arrives there, she sees a man fishing while sitting on the rock. He's wearing a fishing shirt, a hat and sunglasses to cover himself.

"Have you caught any fish?" Joy asks curiously. She somehow wants to interact with strangers today.

The man looks up to see who talks to him. "Not yet," he replies.

When the man looks at her, Joy knows right away that he is Yook Sungjae. Despite recognising him, she pretends not to know him. "How long have you been fishing?," she asks again.

"2 hours maybe?" Sungjae answers. He isn't sure how long he has been there. He forgets time whenever he's fishing and it's been an enjoyable time for him.

"Woah, you're so patient. Is it okay if I sit here?" Joy asks for permission.

"Sure," Sungjae answers. As always, he feels bad to say no.

Joy sits beside him with some distances. She knows that Sungjae is here for his holiday and hence, she doesn't want to greet him as if she has known him. 'Let him enjoy his holiday where he believes no one recognizes him, Joy,' she says to herself.

Suddenly, the intro of 'Second Confesion – VISION' plays, making Joy flustered. She picks up the call right away to stop her ringtone. 'I'm screwed,' Joy says to herself.

Sungjae who has got suspicious that the woman is Joy, getting more convinced after hearing her ringtone. Her voice is also familiar to him. 'Does she not recognise me?,' Sungjae wonders because she doesn't greet him. 'Do they really end up visit the beach together?'

After finish talking to Yeri on phone, Joy doesn't talk anymore. She acts like nothing happened. She sits and steals glances at Sungjae to see if she's get caught to be his fan, but he looks fine.

Joy then puts on her earphone, listens to music and watching the ocean with the wind like normally does. She then reads stories on Wattpad and scrolls her SNS. After 1 hour, her phone battery is left with 30%.
