"Hajoon told me something yesterday when you went to bed. I was about to go to sleep too when he came up to me, and he was a bit unsure because he made it evident that he would not want you to be mad at him for saying it but that he had to, so he explained to me that you were not feeling very good while I was at work. Is that true?" I bring this up, not brushing this off.
"Oh...he told you..." she understands, and I know right away that he was not kidding or exaggerating. "It was nothing. I was just...a bit tired, but nothing to worry about."
"What happened exactly? How were you feeling?" I ask to know more since I am a doctor and can figure out what is the problem. "I was just feeling a bit dizzy, so I ate some sugar, and I was fine afterwards."
I process her words and keep my eyes fixed on her from behind, feeling like she is not taking care of herself. "What do you eat for breakfast and lunch?"
"It depends, I don't always eat the same," she does not give me an answer to the question I asked. "Yes, but what do you eat exactly?"
She shrugs, focusing on the ironing and finding a way to escape this conversation that is particularly important. "Sweet potatoes, salad, soup..."
"That is what you eat for dinner when you don't dine with us," I do not like this at all since this is about her health, and since she has been living with us, in my house, for more than three weeks now, I care about her health and well-being. "From now on, I would like you to eat the same food as us, y/n. I do not want you to be weak, to lack energy, or anything. You have to be in good shape to live and work."
"But I'm all right, Mister Jeon..." she replies with those same words again, but I do not believe in it anymore. I breathe out heavily, wondering what I should do. "I just don't feel hungry or don't want to eat when I'm busy."
"But you're not busy twenty-four hours a day. There are some moments during the day where you can take a break and eat. You cannot tell me you are not hungry when you barely eat, your body is not different from ours, you do feel hunger if you do not feed yourself properly. Do not tell me lies," I remain calm and soft in the way that I talk to her to make sure she does not get hurt or dig her heels in.
"I'm going to cook breakfast. You'll eat with me before I go to work," I decide to do and head towards the kitchen. "Mis—"
"No need to argue. Unless this is for a good reason, like, you have some stomach aches, some problems, if you do not, I do not give you a choice but to eat. That is not to bother you, I just care about you," I do not come back on my words, even though they might sound crude, I cannot let her do this to herself. I manage to make her keep quiet, so I cook a great meal that will give her all the nutrients she needs in the morning.
"What did you dream of?" I do not keep quiet since I can feel that I made her upset with my authoritative side, and she gets at the other side of the board to see me while doing her task. "I can't remember exactly..." her uncertainty causes some skepticism, so I set my eyes on her to see if she is telling the truth or lying because she would be embarrassed to tell me about it. "Oh. Well, as long as this wasn't a nightmare, that's the most important."
"Yeah..." she does not know what to say. "What about you?"
"I dreamed that I bought a new car, it was a Bugatti," I miss being in it, still seeing the leather material of the car, the bright color, and how comfortable it was inside. "Ah. That was indeed a dream."
