                                        *FLASHBACK*
                                           MADI'S POV

The night was stuffy and so was my dress, I was used to smaller dresses that were not so poofy! Yes, I knew that this was a gift from Adad but really!

Sitting off to the side while the music was played and other dwarves danced around happily hand in hand with another I realized that My date wasn't here. groaning and rubbing my eyes with the ball of my palm I felt a hand grab my wrist and pull me up.

Yelping and gasping as I felt the person pull me from my chair. I ran into them so that my head was pushed against their chest, I could hear their heartbeat as the loud laugh that I was expecting made its way to my ears.

Looking up at my captor who twirled me around I found the source of my embarrassment was Fili. His face was grinning widely as he continued the fast-paced waltz around the room, the stuffiness and confinement no longer My top priority...

His face was bright and mine was blushing. Spinning me so that my dress fluttered all around me he let me go...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
                                          FILI'S POV
She was so beautiful, even though she was sitting there battered and bruised, she still glowed as if she had just been given good news.

even though Kili sat next to me, what he said was only a muddled mumbling

Only when a thunderous chorus of laughing broke me away from my daydreaming. The smile of Madi made me start to smile myself, for hers was contagious.

the music from the elves suddenly started getting louder as if to drown out our laughs.

Shoving a napkin in his hearing trumpet Oin looked disgusted back at the black-haired Elf.

"Change the tune, why don't you!" Nori shouted making the others around him chuckle and laugh, "I feel like I am at a funeral!"

A loud shriek from one of the chairs made me turn, Madi was standing with her hands clasped together, her cheeks upturned in a grin.

"Well lads there is only one thing we can do to fix it!" she laughed, with the encouragement of the other dwarfs she jumped up on a low laying block and extended her hand as if to invite a shadow with her onto the mini stage.

Breathing in deeply, she began her song.

In the merry month of June from me home I started
Left the girls of Tuam nearly broken hearted
Saluted Father dear, kissed me darling mother
Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother
Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born
Cut a stout blackthorn to banish ghosts and goblins
A brand new pair of brogues, rattlin' o'er the bogs
Frightenin' all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin

standing up and following the crowd of dwarfs I danced. Bidding my time waiting for my turn with Madilin.

One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!

In Mullingar that night I rested limbs so weary
Started by daylight me spirits bright and airy
Took a drop of the pure
Keep me heart from sinking
That's the Paddy's cure whenever he's on drinking
To see the lassies smile, laughing all the while
At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin'
An' asked if I was hired, wages I required
'Till I was nearly tired of the rocky road to Dublin

not only did her voice get overtaken by the other, male voices, but she laughed on the other side of the floor.

One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!

In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity
To be soon deprived a view of that fine city
Well then I took a stroll, all among the quality
Bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality
Something crossed me mind, when I looked behind
No bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin'
Enquiring for the rogue, said me Connaught brogue
Wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin

One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!

Finally making it over to her and taking her from Bofur after they had finished I spun her around and around. having her eyes closed from laughing, she finally opened her eyes. Her eyes widdening and her cheeks blushing as I continued our fast pased waltz. I was hyper concious of her hand on my shoulder and holding mine.

From there I got away, me spirits never falling
Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing
The Captain at me roared, said that no room had he
When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy
Down among the pigs, played some funny rigs
Danced some hearty jigs, the water round me bubbling
When off Holyhead wished meself was dead
Or better far instead
On the rocky road to Dublin

One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!

The boys of Liverpool, when we safely landed
Called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it
Blood began to boil, temper I was losing
Poor old Erin's isle they began abusing
"Hurrah me soul!" says I, me shillelagh I let fly
Some Galway boys were nigh and saw I was a hobble in
With a loud "Hurray!" joined in the affray
We quickly cleared the way for the rocky road to Dublin

One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
Whack fol lol le rah!
Whack fol lol le rah!

finally, as the last line of the song rang out I found myself gazing into Madi's eyes, yet again all my attention sat on her, her delicate face smiling slightly, her eyebrows slightly raised, her breath labored from the dancing.

finally breaking apart, realizing that all of the others were clapping and laughing with each other.

my hand finding its way to the back of my neck. her hands behind her back, and her eyes on the ground. I could tell that she was hiding her blush. Clapping my shoulder Kili spun me around a stupid smile on his face as if he knew my way of mind.
