Chapter 19
Sorry.
Hope"What are you going to paint?" Grandma asks as she stands up to fill her cup with some clean water.
I shrug my shoulders and stare at the blank canvas hoping to get some inspiration but I got nothing.
"I don't know what to paint." Grandma shakes her head and turns to look at me. And smiled.
"Paint what you feel and want." She says dipping her paintbrush in blue acrylic paint.
I look from my blank canvas to grandmas perfectly painted blue skies with white clouds.
"I'll try," I whisper and picked up my paintbrush.
It took me a while, for an idea to hit me.
Getting up from my seat I rush to find a picture of my mom and when I found it. I made my way to the kitchen, bumping into Hayden.
"Sorry," Hayden shook his head and smiled. "It's my fault, I've been distracted lately." I nodded my head, not quite understanding what's going on.
"Whatever it is, I hope you get yourself together cause you look like shit." Hayden raised his eyebrows and I panic a little thinking he was going to be mad I cursed. But he seemed amused.
Hayden chuckled and kissed my forehead. "I'll be gone for a while if anyone asks. Say I'm not feeling well, so I went for a drive." I nodded my head and watch as he exits the house.
Ignoring his questioning behavior, I walk back into the kitchen with the picture in my hand. Grandma's eyes caught glimpse of the photo in my hand and smiled.
"Great choice," I sat down and started to sketch the outline of her face. Making sure to draw my line light so when I paint I don't see them.
When I finished drawing the picture, grandma whistles. "Looks good, you are talented." I blush, feeling weird about showing my painting. "Thank you."
Grandma went back to painting and I started the first layer of painting the drawing. This lasted for an hour until Jay came for me to practice Italian.
I didn't want to leave it but I decided that it was best I did.
As I sat around a table in Jay's room, I go over the work he gave me. It was in Italian and English, which was helpful. It was about the basic, stuff he had taught me before.
I continue, going over the work. By the time I was finished, I could ask Seven questions in Italian and say some basic words.
"You hungry?"Jay asked, I nodded my head.
"I'll make you a sandwich, come on." Putting down my paper, I got up and followed him downstairs. And we made our way to the kitchen when we got there. Both Alex and Gabriel were on their phone, sitting around the table with a half-eaten sandwich in front of them.
They didn't bother looking up when Jay and I walked in. "Hey, guys."
That still didn't get their attention. "Pretty great weather eh?" I chuckled nudging Alex's a little but He still didn't look up. I look to Jay who said nothing and continue to make the sandwich.
