Chapter 14
Alex POV
I am at the park. I know I know childish, but I just love coming here and just swinging for hours on end. It gives me time to think. The world slows down. So instead of going Prestissimo; (Very Very Fast) it's now Andante. ("Walking" Tempo.) The fall leaves swirled above me and I pulled my hoodie closer.
I miss Shalin. She was my best friend. You might be asking “why was she even friends with her anyway?” well the story is a normal one. Her and my mom are best friends. So we spend a lot of time together. When we were in middle school I was being teased for being in band, and she stuck up for me. We have been good friends ever since. She sticks up for us band people and I stay by her side and help her get over all her break ups. I missed our sleepovers we have on a lot of weekends. When we stay up watching chick flicks. Going to the mall and watching her flirt with all the cute guys was hilarious. But mostly I miss having a girlfriend to call in the middle of the night when I was alone. Her telling me that I was worth it and that she cared for me. Thane was great for that too, but sometimes he didn't know the right things to say.
“You look like a little child” Thane said walking up.
“And your starting to look like a stocker. How did you know I was here?”
“ I tried calling you three hours ago. You didn't answer so I called you house phone. Your sister said you would be here. Its a beautiful place.
“Yeah this is my favorite place to think.” He sat down in the swing beside me. “Who's the little kid now?”
“Oh shut up Alex.” I smirked. We sat in silence for a few minutes swinging. Then he got up, stopped my swing and took my hands. They where raw from swinging for so long.
“You should stop hurting yourself.”
“Hey this I better then cuts.”
“Don't even joke about that” he said rolling up my sleeve looking for something, but there is nothing to find.
“Can't you trust me a little? I am not depressed. It's just that I have a lot on my mind.”
“I'll trust you when you trust me.” he said looking in my eyes. There are so many secrets to this guy. So many doors to unlock.
“I do trust you Thane.” We are so close. Our faces only inches apart. He touched my cheek and sent electrifying tingles though my body. I shook but not from the cold.
“Come on shortstop lets get you home” he said grabbing my hands gently. Even that almost made me wince in pain.
“Do not call me shortstop. I am 5' 4 witch really isn't that short.”
“Okay whatever you say Oompa Loompa” he said walking to his car.
“Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do I have a perfect puzzle for you.”
“Stop your making my ears bleed.” I just sung louder.
“Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-dee If you are wise, you'll listen to me.”
“What? I can't hear you” he said covering his ears like a kid.
“Thane Gentry Colon you get back here.”
“You know I really regret telling you my full name. I think I am just gonna leave.”
“I need a ride?”
