AS LUCIEN STOOD IN THE CHANGING ROOM WAITING FOR DRACO TO GET READY, he thought how bad of an idea this harmless game of Quidditch absolutely was. His arm was hurting less ( not brag but he became pretty good at potions that helped take the pain away ), but it would surely be hurting a lot if he was to be hit by a bludger.

It was a bad idea. He had been hit by bludgers before more than he'd like to admit, Slytherin practices were rough and visits to Madam Pomfrey wasn't uncommon, but this time would be different. He needed to be careful just in case.

He hadn't thought it through when he acted all super confident in front of Cedric, there was no way he could take part in this match. He couldn't go to the Hospital Wing if something serious happened, Madam Pomfrey would immediately inform Dumbledore if she saw the mark on his skin, and he didn't want to deal with broken bones on his own if necessary.

"Are you ready?" Draco asked him. He hadn't realized the blonde one was standing in front of him for a while now. "Hey."

No. "Yes," he gulped. An uncomfortable silence haunted the changing grounds, Lucien rubbing the crock of his neck awkwardly.

Draco and he had been engaging in a cold war for almost a week now. The two had been chatting but their small conversations always ended with one of them getting offended and cursing off the other. It was insane, Lucien thought, their friendship had never suffered as much as it did these past days.

Deep down he knew, that something had shifted in between them but he could place his wand on it or even afford the luxury of thinking about what it may be. He had bigger issues to focus on, but slowly losing Draco hurt as much as the time he was marked with the reminder that he was taking a path that his father once ungodly took.

Looking at Draco made his insides turn; unspoken words hanging in between them as the blond held his gaze. Lucien opened his mouth to say something, anything; but his lips stayed parted as no words came out of it.

Lucien blinked furiously, expecting and forcing himself to offer Draco an apology even if he didn't exactly remember what for. He only remembered how hurt he felt, a tugging at his heart when Draco averted his eyes every time they caught each other's gazes in their silent room.
