1989 WAS AN EERIE YEAR FOR LUCIEN Aleister King since he founded the Afterlife Breakfast Club in early December that year. Rewind just a little to, let's say, August when he found out about his "gift". He'd highly disagree with the choice of words, saying it was a curse instead. Talking to dead people, usually the mean and loud ones haunted Lucien, was never fun. He considered his ability to reach the afterlife not useful but rather annoying. The ghosts that lingered in the halls of Hogwarts were at least a little okay, the ones that accompanied Lucien were not, meaning Dodie Calore and Ivy Uther.

Under normal circumstances, Aleister would never befriend them. But still, he wasn't sure how he had grown to like both girls, the Afterlife Breakfast Club was founded. The members were rather unique: a deceased Slytherin who was still bitter about the fact that her girlfriend killed her, a deceased Hufflepuff who stuck around to relive her teenage years which were stolen away from her, and a Slytherin boy who could talk to and see dead people.

The wizarding world was kept in the dark about his delightful curse. Only a few knew; including his aunt, Ramona King, who Lucien lived with, and his best friend, Draco Malfoy. It was meant to be a secret, but it was a little hard to keep it hidden when Lucien would wake up in the middle of the night because the dead would haunt him in his dreams, drowning him in their misery. It wasn't a surprise that his best friend, and roommate, noticed. Lucien Aleister had even told Draco about Ivy and Dodie, he had expected the words of humiliation to come but they never did.

His aunt, though, didn't know about the Afterlife Breakfast Club. Ramona was already lacking the ability that Lucien possessed and never quite understood what he was going through. His deceased parents might've known; but since they took their own lives in Azkaban, Lucien didn't get the chance to ask them about it.

So, indeed, the year 1989 was an odd year for Lucien Aleister King. He had gotten used to seeing dead things and was familiar with death, it was only that he'd never thought a day would come when he was the one to cause it.

DRACO would call him "Lucky" because the other loved poetic justice and was one of the unluckiest people he had the pleasure of knowing.
