THE LAST DAYS OF SUMMERMARKED THE END OF WASTED DAYS LAYING UNDER THE BLAZING SUN. The ease that came within the summer breeze replaced itself with cooler ones as the first yellow leaf fell onto the sidewalk by King Manor. Lucien loved spending time with her aunt on his vacations but he was glad the season was coming to an end. He and his little group gave each other occasional visits but nothing beat being at Hogwarts surrounded by friends.
Even if the house wasn't as hectic as it usually was on September 1st every year, 24 August 1994 took its place in history as one of the wildest days in the King household; it being the very day prior to the Quidditch World Cup. Ramona King was talking about how fantastic it was going to be ever since Arthur Weasley and she had bought tickets for it. The Weasleys, Hermione and, much to Lucien's displeasure, Harry Potter, accompanied by the Kings were to watch the game altogether.
Lucien loved Quidditch, he wore the title of the Chaser of Slytherin proudly, but he would rather listen to Severus Snape talk about his failed attempt at love than spend the day with the Potter boy. He didn't understand what made him special; Lucien had two deceased parents as well, he deserved the recognition and fame just as much as Harry did. Instead, Lucien was considered a disaster waiting to happen, a future servant of the Dark Lord without a choice given. If all it took to be as victorious as Harry was to get a neat scar on his face, he would rather not mess up his pretty one.
At least Draco was going to be there, although they weren't going to watch the game together. He knew Aunt Ramona wouldn't like him hanging out with the Malfoy boy when she was with the Weasleys, but Lucien wasn't sure he could stand to be near Harry for more than a minute without a snarky comment leaving his lips. Fred and George, though, would maybe prevent him from saying something offensive. Lucien often joked about having deceased parents, somehow the words upset Harry and he was painted as the bad guy once more. The twins understood his sense of humour; thanks Merlin, and sometimes even snickered along with him, only stopping when they saw Harry's painful expression.
"It's almost dinner time, Aunt Ramona," Lucien called out to the woman upstairs as he laid down on the red couch by the window. He flipped through a Muggle magazine he bought at the store the other day, Princess Diana's photograph on the front page catching his attention. He admittedly had too much love for the lady and even kept a picture of her hidden in one of his drawers. "They are probably waiting for us!"
"Just... five more minutes! I need to be sure that everything is perfect," Ramona King yelled back, her footsteps echoing in the empty house. Lucien could hear her count over everything they were supposed to take with them, the woman checking items off the list she made as she stuffed them into her bag.
