IT HAS BEEN A FEW DAYS SINCE HE HAD READ AUNT RAMONA'S LETTER BUT HER WORDS WERE STILL burning holes in his mind. Mostly because he reread it a few times, he could recite the entire letter. He thought about writing back, but he knew no words would be able to show how much he actually appreciated the woman and how sorry he was to disappoint her.

The classes have been dull, and DADA had been worse than he imagined. A few sympathetic looks were thrown in his way by fellow Slytherins and, of course, a lot of snarky remarks from Gryffindors; he had forced himself to stay quiet the whole class.

He couldn't listen to what the professors were saying, dozing off in almost every class. This was no shock, the previous years he had spent in Hogwarts had been pretty much the same. The nightmares had caused him insomnia ever so frequently, so nobody appeared to be intrigued when he showed up looking like he hadn't slept in weeks.

He was sleeping well enough, though. He was sure it had something to do with the mark, fresh on his scarred flesh, the ghosts haunting him were gone.

Every time he tried to force himself to summon Dodie or Ivy, the mark would start burning up, pain making its way from his arm all the way up to his brain. He would feel like it was crushing him, he has never been the brightest mentally, but it was only a few days earlier that he found out he didn't have a high tolerance for physical pain.

When he started missing meals, his friends noticed. Thankfully, nobody said a word. He knew it was only a matter of time before Malfoy interrogated him, that was why Lucien came up with brilliant and believable ( not really ) excuses to ease Draco's mind. His own mind, that he couldn't ease. Maybe never again.

They had Potions together, partners for the whole damn year. He knew the blonde one would start complaining soon enough.

As if on cue, Draco spoke. "Did you fall in love this summer?" Lucien looked at him in disbelief, Draco was the only one he hung out with this summer. Apart from Aunt Ramona forcing him to spend quality time with the Weasleys, it was only the Malfoy boy. "You are acting all lovesick or something."

Lucien let a small laugh escape his lips. Not his best idea, causing Snape to shift their attention over to them. Giving them a displeased look ( his normal face ), he passed by their table and went off to probably torment Harry. "No," Lucien rolled his eyes. "Let's just focus on this potion, get this over with."
