I rubbed my eyes in exhaustion then gasped realizing I was wearing makeup.I quickly checked myself in the mirror I kept on my office table at my law firm.
There was a knock and my secretary Lindsey entered.
"Miss, Mr.Kim is here to see you."
"Send him in." I hummed. Jin walked in with a smile.
"Hey." He said.
"Hi. Lindsey could you please have coffee sent up for us? And take an early leave hon you deserve it after all that paperwork." I said making her smile.
She bowed and left. "Sit." I told Jin as I fixed my makeup.
"Have you been crying?" He tried to get a look at my face.
I chuckled. "Nah, I rubbed my eyes forgetting I had makeup. Soooo? What are you doing here?"
"Nothing, I decided to drop in. The kids-
"Are at my brothers." I said.
"They're not with Mark?" He asked. I shook my head.
"I just assumed Mark had work today so I just dropped the kids off at my brothers in the morning." I explained.
"How are you two?"
I sighed. "He told me the truth about everything. About that kiss and how it wasn't his fault."
"And?"
"I believe him. He did let her know he was taken and he was firm. I don't know, it's not just this kiss. It's the fact that we don't seem the same. It's not the same between as things were back in college."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know, it doesn't seem as passionate or genuine. He would never yell and now he raises his voice, we don't spend much time together. I don't know I don't think he's truly ready. Yeah he's good with the kids but is he ready to drop work and pick them up if I can't? Is he ready for the teacher conferences or the back to school nights or the tears and tantrums and the difficult sleepless nights? Kids aren't easy and marriage isn't any easier and I just I always do this."
"Always do what?" Jin sighed.
"I mess up. Every relationship I have, with my parents, you, Myra-
"Your parents are assholes. You didn't ruin anything, as for us I was the asshole you had no fault."
I smiled softly. "I think Mark and I are outgrowing each other and yeah I love him a lot but I don't know...I think that him and I just aren't the right fit as we were years ago."
"I understand. That's normal." Jin shrugged. "You're smart, young, beautiful, and successful. There's plenty of men out there."
"Yeah? And who'd want a divorcee with two kids?" She sighed. "It's fine, enough about me tell me about you and Areum. How do you like her?"
