When I was just a little pup, or child... I'm not sure what to call myself, I would turn into a wolf and run around the fields, chasing small rodents such as mice or rabbits, for fun. I had made so many animal friends; I met a fox, a raccoon, and so many different kinds of species!

When I would change into a human I would run around the cities, I had to take clothes to cover myself up with because I wasn't supposed to run around naked; it would make all the humans look at me in disgust. I also tried to learn the human language. I always heard weird noises coming from their mouths, and I soon found out that it was the humans' way of communicating to each other.

I already knew how to speak to animals, it was quite easy to learn how actually, but the human language is really complicated for a two year old human girl. Maybe I'm not old enough as a human yet? Two does sound old enough to speak as a wolf, but probably not for a human.

How did I teach myself? I would hear the noises they made and try to repeat the same noise. Sometimes I would repeat a curse word! But how was I supposed to know? I was only a pup... Er... only a toddler.

Reading their language was even more complicated. One day I saw a woman and her mate staring at a sign outside of a store. I looked at them curiously, and asked; "Why are you staring at that thing?" The woman laughed and kindly smiled at me.

"I'm reading the sign to see what kind of deals they have, sweetheart!" She smiled and I tilted my head to the side, questionably.

"Deeealllss..?" She laughed again and patted me on the head then walked into the store. I pouted my lip and walked to the sign.

"Deeaals," I repeated. "Deals, deals, deals, deals..." I giggled to myself and skipped into the store. I skipped around the store looking and smelling all the yummy foods until I ran into the woman again.

"Hello darling!" She smiled. I smiled back.

"Hi! What are... deealss?" I asked, still struggling to say the word. She laughed and bent down to about my height.

"You shouldn't have to worry about that until you're all grown up, sweetheart," she smiled.

"Aww..." I crossed my arms and pouted my lip. The woman laughed and I noticed that her mate was behind her, quietly chuckling. The woman turned around to look at her mate and they talked for a bit, I couldn't really understand most of what they were saying.

She bent down and picked me up and set me into her cart that held her food. "Would you like to come with me and my husband?" She asked nicely smiling. I tilted my head again.

"Huuuzz..?" She laughed and patted my head.

"Let's go home, sweetheart," she said smiling and she pushed the cart along the isle, startling me a bit. I felt my canines sharpen and poke out of my mouth for a second, but I quickly hid them before she or her mate could see.

. . .

That day, the nice lady and her mate, or "husband," took me into their home. It was kind of small, but I still loved it! It was more fun to be in than a cave.

I burst through the doorway and start running around the living room.

"Ooh-ooh! I love it I love it I love it I love it!" I squeal. The lady and her mate chuckle and sit me down on a soft and cushiony seat, and they sit on a bigger one across from the one they sat me on.

"Now dear, this will be your new home, if you would like. My name is Aliss, and my husband's name is Randy. You can call me Mother, and Randy, Dad. That is, as long as you would want to stay with us, dear," she says giving me the kindest smile. I sniff the air and "Mother" looks at me funny.

"Does the house smell, dear?" she asked.

"No... I think I smell..." I sniff again. What was it... what was it..!? "a cat!" I exclaim as I jump up and follow the smell. I feel my canines sharpen as I get on all fours and carefully sniff the ground for the cat.

I follow the smell into a room with another cushiony thing, but it was much bigger and more comfy looking than the other ones. I spot the cat on the cushiony thing.

"There it is..." I say under my breath and I crouch down to the floor. I hear Mother and Randy walking towards me from behind and I feel my tail and ears poke out as I quickly shift into a wolf.

I hear Mother and Randy gasp at the same time and I shush them as I slowly sneak up on the cat and right at the right time; I pounce on his tail.

I hear him meow and he runs off and I chase him, barking.

"No no no no!" I hear Mother yelling. Was she yelling at me, or the cat? Or at Randy?

After chasing the cat for a couple minutes, he runs into a small cave with grey sand in it. It smelled kind of funny in there. When I try to get into the cat's cave, I feel hands pick me up, and I kick my paws to try to get out of the firm grasp.

"Aliss, what did you bring home with us!?" Randy quietly yells at Mother.

"I thought she was just a normal girl!" she replied. I stopped struggling and look up at her with a sad look. I'm not normal...

"Aw... dear I don't... I..." she tried to explain but I change back into a human, making Randy let go.

I begin to cry and look up at her. "I-I'm sorry Mother..." I say sniffling.

"Oh darling, don't be..." she picks me up from under my arms and holds me.

"We still love you like our own daughter."
