It was morning and I woke up with the freshest head and moist bright eyes. I hadn't woken up so relaxed in a long time. I drew the curtains. The sun was shining brightly and the birds were chirping. I decided to get up and get my things together so I could go downstairs to have some breakfast.Just as I was getting up, I heard a knock on my bedroom door. 'Who is it?' I asked. 'Hi darling it's me. Can I come in?' It was Mum knocking on my bedroom door. She never knocked on my bedroom door this early. What could she possibly want from me? 'Olivia darling, are you awake? I need to talk to you,' she said through the bedroom door.
'Come in Mum,' I said. Mum opened my bedroom door and poked her head round to speak to me. 'Sophia is in her bedroom panicking because she's lost her passport,' she said. 'Oh, that's quite bad,' I said, 'How did she lose it?'
'I have no idea darling, but she is panicking a lot. Have you seen her passport anywhere?' 'No, I haven't seen it anywhere. I thought she would've packed her passport away?' 'I think she has misplaced it. She cannot find it anywhere!'
'I thought Sophia is due to go to Germany today. How will she go without her passport? She will not be able to fly without it,' I said pretending to be concerned. 'Yes darling, that is why Sophia is panicking. If she can't find the passport then she cannot go,' said Mum.
Suddenly Sophia poked her head through my bedroom door. 'Olivia the worst thing has happened! I've lost my passport,' said Soph in a panicky voice. 'I have already told her darling. Try not to panic too much. We will keep looking for it,' said Mum. 'Olivia, have you seen it anywhere?'
'No, I haven't seen it anywhere. Did you not pack it into one of your bags last night or the day before? You usually pack your things days in advance,' I said. 'I know I had everything packed. I didn't put my passport into my hand luggage because it wasn't properly packed yet, but I always leave my passport in the same drawer in my bedroom. It seems to have disappeared from that drawer.'
'I have not seen it at all. I would've thought that you would've packed it away in one of your bags,' I said. 'I am sure you have just misplaced it rather than lost it,' I said. 'Olivia, I cannot find it anywhere! I must've left it at school. I feel so stupid,' said Soph frustratingly. 'Don't be silly Sophia, it must be here somewhere,' said Mum.
'No Mum! I can't go to Germany today unless I have my passport. My whole trip is ruined. It's completely ruined! I feel so stupid now,' said Soph. 'Oh my gosh panic, panic panic. Why so much panic dear?' 'Mum I cannot go to Germany and my whole trip is cancelled now,' said Soph. 'Well, it's not the end of the world. You can go next year maybe,' said Mum.
While Sophia was panicking and moaning about losing her passport, I was actually happy that my plan was working out. Inside I felt good that although Soph wasn't going to Germany, I knew I had stopped heartbreak from taking place between all of us and that was all that mattered.
'Mum I want to go this year. I paid for the trip and packed all my clothes. What a complete waste!'
'Sophia, please don't panic like this. I think it's best if you just phone your school teacher and tell them you will not be attending the trip. Then get your books ready and go to school,' said Mum.
Sophia walked out of my room looking extremely glum but I knew that it was for her highest good. Things happen for a reason and this time she was just not meant to go on this trip.
Later that day, Sophia had not been to school. She phoned her teacher and told her about the horrible loss of her passport and then stayed at home for the day. Her teacher had said it was fine and that she would receive a refund once the trip was over. Sophia was pretty upset and decided to catch up on lost sleep instead.
For most of the week, Soph was quite upset that she had missed the trip. She took some days off school saying she was sick and caught up on her school work instead. My mother was really annoyed that she didn't go into school for her lessons and said that she should never miss a lesson this year because of the final exams coming up. The rest of the week went by very fast and Sophia eventually got over the fact that she couldn't attend the school trip.
The following Monday, all of Sophia's classmates came back from the trip saying the trip was so boring because the weather was terrible and it was raining most of the time. Sophia felt relieved that she missed it.
I saw Ethan in the morning after my History lesson and he also said the trip was hugely boring and the weather was so bad that they sat indoors most of the time. I was just so thankful that Sophia missed the trip because I kept imagining her and Ethan cosying up together due to the rainy weather. I tried to stop my mind from wandering to such surprising thoughts.
My last lesson of the day ended quickly and I received a text from Kayleigh asking if I wanted to meet up with her, Charlie and Ethan. This was something I definitely could not refuse. I said yes and Kayleigh replied 'Great I'll meet you there.' I really needed to relax and have a joke. I also needed to see Ethan's beautiful face.
I strolled slowly to the park and enjoyed breathing the Autumn air. Auburn and honey coloured leaves lay bare all over the streets. My mood was as sweet as the air. I had never felt so relaxed about my life at Lowlands High and today I was ready for more relaxing fun with my new friends.
I arrived at the park and the gates were wide open. The path was covered in beautiful leaves and the trees made it look like a walkway to heaven. As I walked through the gates my heart started to beat fast because once again, I was getting closer to Ethan. I walked to the tree that we stood at last time and right in front of my eyes was Ethan smoking all alone.
'I love your smile and it's so great to see you here again,' said Ethan whilst smoking. I felt so complimented. No guys had ever complimented me about my smile. 'I love hanging out with you guys and your smile is super gorgeous too.' I was so nervous at this point. All my dreams of Ethan being attracted to me were manifesting before my eyes!
Ethan touched my hand and moved his hand up my arm saying 'Your skin is so soft.' The feeling of his hand on my arm made me feel ecstatic! I was falling more and more in love with him. However, without trying to look desperate, I tried to play it cool by smiling sweetly. Ethan grabbed my hand and started playing with my fingers.
At that moment I felt like my eyes had hearts flying out of my eyes like an emoji. I was literally on cloud nine. My dream of becoming closer to Ethan was coming true every day. I heard sounds of walking feet and leaves crunching on the ground. I looked over my shoulder and right behind me was Kayleigh and Charlie walking towards us.
Just before they joined us, Ethan took his hand off my arm. My heart was still beating with joy. 'It's great to see you here Olivia,' said Charlie. 'Yeah, she's my Pothead girl,' said Kayleigh laughing. I found Pothead quite offensive.
It made me sound like a drug addict which I wasn't and didn't want to be portrayed that way either. However, I was happy to put up with it temporarily as long as I could have fun and hang out with them.
I began thinking that Sophia would go absolutely ballistic if she found out that I was hanging out with them, but I was enjoying the socialising and couldn't stop myself just because Sophia would disapprove, I just couldn't. Plus, a social life was just as important as school work.
Ethan suddenly prompted a conversation. 'So guys the Halloween party is coming up, who's going?' 'I can't imagine who wouldn't go. It's the best event of the year,' said Kayleigh. 'Well I'll be going all dressed up so please try and look out for me,' said Ethan grinning.
'I haven't made my mind up about who I'm going as but I'll definitely be going to the party,' said Charlie. 'It sounds so exciting. I'll need to get an outfit,' I said. The evening carried on with all of us joking and talking. I was enjoying myself a lot and couldn't ignore the burst of excitement after hearing about the Halloween party.
