The next day as soon as I'd finished my Chemistry lesson, I received a text message from Kayleigh asking if I wanted to bunk the next lesson with her.I immediately declined and told her I had important school work to do. I always felt bad declining social invitations but I just didn't feel a positive friendship with Kayleigh anymore and I preferred to be straightforward about it.
Kayleigh immediately replied with a negative message asking 'Why are you being so distant lately? Are you trying to avoid me? Avoidance leads to nothing.'
I was astounded by her message. She had gotten angry because I'd turned her down! This was getting far too complicated for me and I always disliked complicated people. I didn't bother responding.
I continued to walk through the school and then my next favourite person was walking towards me. 'Hey Olivia, I hope I didn't scare you off yesterday,' said Ethan trying to be suave.
I had no idea what he meant by 'scare off' because it was evidently obvious what he was up to with Amelia, but I replied any way and said 'Oh no you didn't. I just had a bad stomach ache and rushed off home.'
'Well, I hope you don't think that what you saw between me and Amelia was anything serious? I mean we sneaked a few alcoholic drinks into the basement so we were a bit tipsy,' he said.
'It's ok you don't need to explain yourself,' I said. 'Ok, I'm heading to the park for a bit. Fancy bunking next lesson with us?' 'No, I think I'll give it a miss. I've got a heap of History homework to get through so I'm gonna head to the library. See you,' I said very firmly.
I walked off and I realized that I didn't want any of these fake friends in my life anymore. My school work, passing my exams and moving on to college were the most important goals for me and that's all I wanted to worry about.
After all my lessons were finished for the day, I really needed to clear my head. I decided I would pop in to the Crystal Ball shop to see Martha and get a few things off my chest.
Memories of Friday night kept flashing back in my head. I just wanted to erase all these negative emotions from my head.
As I left the school building and walked to the bus stop, I saw Kayleigh and her brother Charlie walking up ahead probably walking to the park for a smoke. I felt glad that I wasn't going with them.
After taking the bus into Harrow town centre and walking up a few roads, I finally arrived at the Crystal Ball shop. The lights were on inside and the receptionist was at the desk.
'Hey Olivia, nice to see you. Have you come to see Martha right now?' 'Yes, I have. Sorry I didn't have time to book an appointment. Is she free?' 'Let me phone her and check,' said the receptionist.
Within seconds, Martha came out and invited me into her room. I felt a sense of relief. I really needed to clear my head and get some things off my chest.
I walked into Martha's room and she was sitting in her leather chair. 'Hello Miss Clifton, how is the young Seer?' I was really happy to see Martha and being referred to as a young Seer gave me a sense of confidence that I'd never felt before.
But when I began talking, I spoke nervously. 'Well, I'mm ummm mmmm umm doing okay,' I stuttered. The memories from Friday night were still fresh in my head and I felt and also looked very distraught.
'Are you okay dear?' asked Martha looking worried. 'I've come here to get some things off my chest and have a nice long talk if that's okay?' I said. 'Absolutely dear. Please relax. I'll get some tea and biscuits and we can have a long chat.'
I took a seat in front of Martha's large leather swivel chair. 'So, what's bothering you dearest?' 'Oh Martha... I used my clairvoyance to look into the future but I acted upon the visions in the wrong way,' I told her.
