The weekend was here. I woke up to a beautiful blue sky and singing birds. Today I was going shopping with the girls! I was so excited because Mum had given me extra pocket money and I had some money saved. It was time to treat myself and buy a nice outfit!

Although I was in a good mood and ready for an exciting day, Sophia was not! I went downstairs to make a luscious breakfast and was greeted with the grumpiest face ever.

'Darling please only eat plain foods today and take lots of rest,' said Mum. 'What's going on?' I asked. 'Sophia has diarrhoea darling, so I have told her to take rest and eat plain foods only,' said Mum.

'Oh gosh Soph, what did you eat last night?'

'I had a kebab after school with Natalie. It might be the kebab that has given me this upset stomach but Natalie seems to be fine so I'm not sure.'

'Ok well just eat plain foods like Mum said,' I told her. 'I have told her this already,' said Mum pinching my cheek adoringly.

'Sophia, I'm just letting you know that I'm going shopping with Grace, Priyanka and Lucy and I plan to bring them here afterwards for tea and biscuits,' I said.

'Oh Olivia, why do you have to organise things without asking me first? I have already asked Samuel to come over later,' Soph said.

'Well can't we have all of them over at the same time? I don't see what the problem is?'

'The problem is Olivia that you don't listen or respect your older sister,' said Sophia.

'Hey that's not true Soph. How could you say that to me?' The older sister syndrome was kicking in again. All Sophia ever wanted to do was be the bossy older sister telling me what to do and blaming me for things.

'Yes it is true Olivia! You never listen to me and always love to argue!'

Here we go again, Sophia was the perfect example of older sister syndrome; bossy, controlling and moody. Although she would never admit her moodiness it was always happening.

I couldn't take much more arguing and decided to give in to Sophia. 'I've had enough of arguing. You can have the house to yourself. I'll bring my friends over another day.'

I headed straight into town to meet Grace and the others for our shopping spree. I arrived at the shopping mall and saw Lucy waving at me from afar. 'Over here Olivia!'

'Hey guys, I hope I'm not too late?' 'No you're not Olivia. It's great to see you here. We're going into the Party Shop which has lots of partyish outfits,' said Lucy.

We walked into the Party Shop. The shop was filled with party dresses and fancy dress outfits. Railings and railings of outfits. The shop was huge but some of the outfits looked almost second hand.

Grace was admiring the outfits and then pointed at the corner. 'Maybe we can go as four pink ballerinas?' Even though the dresses looked cute and girly, I couldn't see us dancing or even travelling to the party in these outfits.

Lucy picked up four shiny frilly dresses and said, 'Maybe we can wear these dresses in different colours? Blue, green, purple and red?' Grace didn't look impressed.

'What about those silvery outfits?' said Priyanka pointing at a bunch of space suits. 'We could go as astronauts?' Grace and Lucy looked very unimpressed.

'I feel like no one will recognize us we if we're dressed in astronaut suits,' I said.

'I think you're right Olivia. Guys why don't we go to the next shop. I can see beautiful dresses in there,' said Grace.

The next shop, Simeons, had gorgeous evening and cocktail dresses. The quality of the dresses was much better than the last shop but they looked more expensive.

'What about this beautiful pink prom dress? We could wear this,' said Grace.

'I think the hot pink stands out too much. It looks a bit too striking,' said Priyanka.

Lucy picked out a bunch of different coloured ball gowns and said, 'We could each go as a different Disney princess,' and laughed loudly.

'Good idea Lucy. Maybe Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Snow White,' said Grace giggling.

I wasn't overly impressed and said, 'It's a Halloween party, not a ball. I think we'd be overdressed and look too formal in those dresses.'

'I agree Olivia,' said Grace.

'There's a costume shop just round the corner. I think we should go there because we're more likely to find Halloween type outfits in there,' said Lucy.

Inside the costume shop we found amazing costumes lined up in racks. A scarecrow, Tarzan, Santa Claus, the Little Red Devil, Pocahontas and Princess Jasmine. The list was just endless!

There was an unlimited number of costumes to pick from. Grace picked up a costume of a blind mouse. 'That's perfect. Three of us could go as the 'Three Blind Mice,' said Priyanka.

'But one of us will be left out,' said Lucy. 'Sorry Olivia you'll have to pick another outfit for yourself,' said Priyanka laughing.

'That's fine by me! I think I'll go as Cat Woman,' I said with a huge smile on my face. I was truthfully quite happy to go as another character because I was worried that Ethan wouldn't be able to spot me if I was dressed like three other girls in a mouse outfit.

After we'd bought all our outfits, we left the costume shop. Lucy and Priyanka were giggling so much, each extremely excited about getting dressed up for Halloween.

Just as we walked out of the shop we bumped into a familiar face. 'Hey Olivia, wow I didn't know you liked shopping? It looks like you've bought a lot,' said Kayleigh with a shocked expression on her face.

To be honest the expression on my face must've been more shocked than Kayleigh's because I was not expecting to see her and nor was I expecting her reaction to me to be as negative as it was.

'Err I haven't really bought a lot,' I said. 'Hmmm you're looking like a shopaholic Olivia,' said Kayleigh giggling. 'We only bought a few outfits each,' said Lucy butting into the conversation.

'Oh, wow so did you buy outfits for the Halloween party?' 'Yep, just an outfit each. I don't really have anything to wear so thought it would be better to buy an outfit,' I said.

'Cool do you mind if I see what you bought?'

Grace, Priyanka and Lucy each pulled out their outfits and showed Kayleigh. 'Nice well I'll be able to spot all of you at the party,' laughed Kayleigh. Kayleigh looked over at me expectantly.

'Sorry Kayleigh it's a secret. You'll have to wait till the party,' I said jokingly.

'Ok well I have one question actually,' Kayleigh replied, 'Why didn't you invite me out shopping with your friends?'

I was completely startled. Why was Kayleigh being so rude? 'Oh it was a last minute decision and we just rushed out to come here,' I said. 'Cool well next time you want to hang out with my friends, don't forget to pencil me into your diary with your friends too,' said Kayleigh snidely.

'Anyway, I better go girls. Have fun shopping,' said Kayleigh and walked off. I was completely startled by her behaviour. Priyanka looked at me and said, 'What was her problem?'

'I think she is annoyed because I didn't ask her to come shopping,' I said. 'Oh that's a bit shallow,' said Grace. 'Well, I generally forgot and I wasn't purposefully avoiding her so I'm not sure why she is taking it so personally?'

Kayleigh's behaviour completely startled me and today I had seen her true colours. I didn't realise that she was expecting an instant repayment after asking me to hang out with her and her friends.

Even though I was shocked at Kayleigh's behaviour, I tried to forget about it. I'd had a good time shopping and that's all that mattered.

We left the shopping centre and waited for the bus to go home.
