The next day at school, I was walking through one of the school corridors and unfortunately bumped into Shannon and Nicole. Shannon's eyes locked on to mine sharply.

'Olivia don't think that I've forgotten about the incident at the basketball court,' said Shannon. 'I can't remember what you're talking about,' I said nervously.

'You and your lovely sister threw basketballs at us,' said Shannon threateningly. 'That wasn't us. I told you already,' I said. 'Ok so you're finally confirming that they did actually fly over to us magically then?'

'Yes they probably did fly over magically because we had nothing to do with them,' I said angrily. 'Right Madam, you and your sister need to watch out because you're not going to get away with what you did to us,' shouted Nicole.

'Are you threatening us?' I asked. 'Yes I am threatening both of you. You physically hurt us with those basketballs so I'm entitled to defend myself,' shouted Nicole.

'We didn't do anything! We might have been in the vicinity but we didn't do it,' I shouted. 'Ok so basketballs fly do they?' said Shannon.

'Yes Nicole, it seems like basketballs have wings,' laughed Shannon sarcastically.

'We didn't do anything, we wouldn't dare hurt anyone,' I insisted.

'Well it's good to know you wouldn't hurt anyone but you did actually hurt us. If you had apologised then maybe I would have had more respect for you,' said Nicole.

'Apologize for what? I've just told you that we didn't do anything,' I reaffirmed. 'If you had apologised maybe we could've gotten along better,' said Nicole.

I began to question my sanity during this conversation. 'We can get along better. In fact, I think we have a lot more in common than you think,' I said.

I began thinking to myself that maybe I wasn't saying the right things. Words were just gushing out of my mouth. 'I really admire you guys. I think you're really talented,' I said.

'Hahaha,' laughed Nicole. Are you trying too hard now?' 'No I'm being honest. You guys were amazing at the Charity Fashion Show. Your voices were amazing,' I said.

'Ok ok, we actually got a million compliments that night and to be honest we really don't need yours,' said Shannon. 'Yeah quit the fake compliments Miss Clifton,' said Nicole.

Why do you behave like this all the time?' I asked.

'Like what? This is who we are, so get used to it,' said Nicole bluntly.

'But why do you behave this way with the younger students too?'

'Behave in what way?'

'You guys constantly bully them,' I said.

'It's simple. It's because they never fight back,' said Shannon threateningly.

'Ok so if they fight back then you'll stop?'

'Nope sorry. The fight just carries on,' said Shannon.

'Ok I've had enough of this. If this means we can't ever get on then I've gotta go. I can't stand here forcing myself to work things out with you,' I said looking frustrated.

'Don't worry Miss Clifton, we'll get both of you one day,' said Nicole. Before Nicole could stick her foot out to try and trip me up like she normally did with other students, I quickly turned around and walked off.

Towards the end of the school day, all I kept worrying about was Shannon and Nicole trying to hurt me and Sophia. I knew that they would happily use violence too. I kept thinking that it was probably time for me to complain about this bullying behaviour. I had to tell someone but wasn't sure who? Mrs Long didn't seem interested in listening and she was the only person I could think of.

After all this horrible drama, all I wanted to do was relax and take my mind off this nasty episode. Thoughts of Ethan kept me calm but as much as I wanted to see Ethan, I needed some friendly female interaction. Remembering about Netball club, I decided to go down to the club to relax and I also wanted to make some new friends.

When I entered the changing rooms, there were fewer girls than usual. It was usually filled to the brim. Maybe no one knew that Mrs Harrington was back from her long holiday.

Suddenly Mrs Harrington walked into the changing rooms and asked everyone to go outside into the school grounds and to form two separate teams. Team A and Team B.

I joined Team A. Being outside ready to play reminded me of when I had first joined Lowlands and how nervous I'd felt. This was the first place that I had met Amelia too but I felt so much more confident this time.

We played four matches consecutively. Unfortunately, Team A did very badly. Not having Amelia on my team made a difference as I really felt we had a good rhythm between us and we always managed to win games together.

After playing our matches, I went back into the changing rooms. AsI went to my locker and a few minutes later I started talking to another girl I had never seen or met before.

'Hey I've seen you around school. I'm a Heather,' she said. Heather was short and slim. She wore large framed glasses and had plain mousey brown hair.

'Oh have you? Well that's nice that you recognized me since I only joined a few months ago,' I said.

'Oh I also joined a few months ago. I went to a new joiners meeting. I think they called your name but you weren't there,' she said.

'Oh yes I remember that meeting. I think I had an important meeting with my Science teacher that day. It's a shame I missed it,' I said.

'Well you didn't miss much,' Heather said.

'So how have you been finding Lowlands since you joined?' I asked.

'It's been quite tough actually,' she said.

'Oh how come?'

'Well I haven't made any friends. It's been quite difficult to make new friends especially in my classes,' she said.

'Yes I know what you mean. A lot of people were not that friendly in my classes either,' I said.

'Well that's why I joined netball. It seems like another way to make new friends,' she said.

'Yes that's very true,' I said trying to comfort her. 'I've made a few friends now, so I'm feeling much more comfortable and my school work is going well too which is the main thing,' I said.

'To be honest, joining school in Year 11 is quite hard because I feel everyone already has their friendship groups and it's hard to fit in,' Heather said.

'Yes I somewhat agree,' I said, 'I'm probably going to move to college next year instead. I think I'd prefer to have a fresh start in a place where most people are independent,' I said

I spoke to Heather for awhile and although she was kind and friendly, I didn't really feel a connection with her. I didn't really want to listen to her whingeing. I decided to say bye and make a move towards home.
