YOU'D THINK DRIVING AROUND HAWKINS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WOULD BE A STUPID THING TO DO, especially after all the missing person flyers which were being hung up, more each day.
Most people tended to keep themselves hidden away from the town, terrified that they perhaps would be the next victim to go mysteriously missing.
But right now, Steve would rather be anywhere than his own house. Even if that meant spending the evening with Tommy and Carol.
He wasn't quite sure where he was driving at first, but he soon released where he was taking the vehicle after he recognised the familiar streets. He was driving to Nancy's.
"I just don't understand why we're coming out here. She obviously doesn't wanna talk to you." Carol complained obnoxiously.
"That's . . . that's not it." Steve sighed keeping his eyes trained onto the dimly lit streets.
"Oh, really? Because no girl would ever blow off King Steve." Carol continued mocking the boy as she faked a pout.
Steve wasn't quite sure why he had told them where he was going but it just slipped out. He didn't want to tell them as he knew they'd tease him, but Carol was growing annoying constantly asking every second to where he was taking them, so he caved.
"She was acting weird. I mean, something was wrong."
"So what? Like, you're worried about her?"
Steve faulted. "What?"
"Aw, you are. Aw, Steve has a heart." Carol teased as she leaned forward, swinging her arm loosely around his neck.
"Oh Stevey's in love." Tommy added, singing along with his girlfriend's giggles.
"Would you two just shut up?" Steve whined swatting the red-head off from around his neck.
"Who knew?" Carol sighed, falling back into her seat.
"Shut up!"
"Jeez." Tommy chuckled under his breath.
"So what exactly happened to your sister? If she were here I'm sure it would be wayy- less boring." Carol asked as she leant forward in her seat again.
"I've told you so many god damn times Carol. She's missing."
Carol took the news as if it was nothing. Almost as if she had expected it to happen? She wasn't surprised or dazed like many people were after they were told that poor little Alice Harrington had disappeared, along with the other sorry missing souls of Hawkins.
"Alright. I was just asking."
Steve managed to block out his two friends for the remainder of the drive, trying to keep all his focus on the roads rather than his friends since they were causing him to feel rather frustrated and insecure and Steve hated, he absolutely hated feeling insecure.
"So this is it, huh? Princess' castle." Tommy smirked taking in the view of the Wheeler's house.
"I'll not be a minute." Steve turned to his friends giving them a look trying to make sure they didn't do anything stupid.
Once he was satisfied with their response, he tidied himself up before heading over to the familiar root above the family's garage towards Nancy's window.
He was buzzing with excitement, after a long two and a half hours of being trapped with Tommy and Carol, he finally would be happy with Nancy. He really needed her right now.
But he wasn't expecting her to be with someone else . . .
There he was. Johnathan Byers, sat with his girlfriend, his girlfriend, with his arm tightly wrapped around her shoulder pulling her in towards his side.
