170: Taekook

Taehyung checked his phone for the nth time that morning as he waited for Jeongguk's reply.

He had been pacing back and forth in the living room where Jimin was comfortably lying on the couch.

"What's the problem?" Jimin asked after a long while of staring at him walking to and fro.

Taehyung sighed, now heading to where Jimin was sitting.

"Jeongguk's not replying." He pouted, glancing at his last message to the ravenette.

Me: let's eat out today, love.

my bunny 💜: sorry, love. My meeting is today. I'll make it up to you tomorrow, okay? Happy Birthday and I love you 💜

Me: is it really a no? 🥺

"Maybe he's busy?" Jimin uttered, letting the other snuggle to him.

"Today's my birthday.." Taehyung pouted once more. He remembered Jeongguk mentioned the other day that he got a filming offer from an environmental channel.

He never expected it would be today, exactly on his birthday.

"What a bummer." Taehyung said as he snuggled closer to Jimin who tenderly patted his head.

"Then ask him to drop whatever he's doing." Jimin suggested to which Taehyung just pouted even more.

"I don't want to be that petty." Taehyung retorted which had Jimin smiling.

"Then why don't we go out instead?" Jimin said.

Taehyung's face immediately lit up from the idea.

"Really?" He beamed as Jimin nodded.

"Let's invite the others." He added which made Jimin awkwardly smile.

"Sure. I'll message them while you prepare." Jimin suggested, almost pushing Taehyung inside his room.

"Okay. Thanks Chim." Taehyung quickly went to his room to take a shower and get ready while Jimin discreetly messaged Jeongguk as the plan started to roll.

"Are you sure you're fine?" Taehyung asked, alarmed as he maneuvered the car.

"Yeah... I think I ate something bad." Jimin groaned, quickly drinking some water as he leaned his head on the car seat.

"I told you not to eat too much." Taehyung said in concern.

The two of them were on their way back from their date after Jimin felt stomach pains after they bought tickets to the movie they were supposed to watch in the evening.

They went shopping and eating here and there the whole day. If not for the unfortunate thing that happened to Jimin, they wouldn't be heading home any time sooner.

It was past 7 in the evening when Taehyung parked the car in front of their house. He quickly helped Jimin out of the car and walked him towards the front door.

"I'm fine, actually." Jimin whispered to which Taehyung simply rolled his eyes.

"Yeah right." He answered as he unlocked the front door.

"I'll make you tea to soothe the pain." Taehyung said as he opened the door.

As soon as Taehyung stepped his foot inside, the lights were immediately turned on and came a loud cheering sound that almost made him flinch.

"Happy Birthday, Taehyung!"

He was astounded to see his friends in the living room which was lavishly decorated with birthday designs.

A heart shaped collage of his pictures was in the middle of the wall where the words "Happy Birthday My Love" was also situated.

"Guys.." Taehyung felt like crying as he looked at his friends' faces before landing on his man who was smiling fondly at him in the middle while holding Yeontan in his arms.

"Ggukie.." Taehyung pouted which made the ravenette smile.

"Surprise, my love." Jeongguk said as he approached him.

"I thought you're busy." Taehyung said, gazing at Jimin who suddenly looked like he's totally fine.

"Chim!" Taehyung exclaimed, making the other laugh.

"Oscar-worthy acting, right?" Jimin said as he winked at Taehyung who could only cover his face, truly overwhelmed.

"I wouldn't miss your birthday for the world." Jeongguk whispered.

As they stood in the middle of the room, the light was suddenly turned off. There was nothing but darkness, but not for long as the room was suddenly filled with dim lights coming from the candles that Taehyung only noticed just then.

"I want this to be your most memorable birthday, love." Jengguk added, staring deeply in Taehyung's eyes.

"Happy birthday, Taehyung." He said as he gave Yeontan to him.

Taehyung gladly took the adorable little one in his arms.

"Have him as your birthday gift." Jeongguk said which made Taehyung laugh.

They heard their friends scoff at his remark.

"You shouldn't recycle gifts, Jeongguk." Seokjin commented which earned a laughter from the group.

Jeongguk shyly scratched the back of his head as he stared deeply in Taehyung's eyes.

There was something in those eyes that made Taehyung glance at Yeontan for a long while.

And before he knew it, tears were already streaming down his eyes.

"-Ggukie.." Taehyung sobbed which confused the rest of their friends.

"Why? What's going on?" Jimin asked, totally confused as to why Taehyung began crying so hard.

The latter was a sobbing mess as Jeongguk took his hand and planted a soft kiss on it.

"I love you, Taehyung." He whispered while Taehyung could only sob as he held Yeontan close to him.

His heart swelled as he looked at Yeontan once more, lingering on the ring with an elegant diamond in the middle attached to his collar.

He touched it with his trembling fingers, tracing every detail, feeling every curve.

"Marry me, Taehyung." Jeongguk declared which earned loud gasps from the group who were all shocked by what's going on.

Those words were enough to make Taehyung a total mess as he cried even more. Words couldn't slip out of his mouth as he nodded vigorously, telling the ravenette his answer.

Jeongguk was able to heave a deep sigh of relief, immediately embracing Taehyung in his arms, tenderly patting his head to comfort him.

His answer also brought tears to Jeongguk's eyes as he looked at his face before slowly yet passionately claiming Taehyung's quivering lips in a kiss that sealed the most precious day of their life.

The day the two of them finally took the first step to a relationship of a lifetime.

"I love you, my Taehyung." Jeongguk whispered, kissing Taehyung's temple as he embraced him.

"I love you too, my Jeongguk." Taehyung responded, melting on the ravenette's warm embrace.

Their friends could only look at them with proud and fond eyes. They were also clueless about Jeongguk's proposal and witnessing it unfold right before their eyes just brought smile in their lips.

They silently stared at the lovers, eyes and smiles showing nothing but support and acceptance of their love.
