keeping up with the Rookie

Pov Hope

Waking up to my alarm this morning I took a quick look at Shay to see her sleeping peacefully with a smile on her face so I take the chance to get up and ready for the day, jumping in a cold shower to get over my dirty dream I had about the rookie I get dry finish my skin care routine before getting dressed and leaving the bathroom  I get the shock of my life with Shay is on the floor in only shorts and a sports bra muscles clad with sweat clearing my throat she looks up smiles " is the bathroom free now" nodding with a little smile not trusting my voice I watch as she jumps up and grabs change of clothes then heads in the shower, I cant help the smile on my face as i hear her singing.

I leave to find becky and carlos I cant help but think she is a great singer, knocking on the door a tired looking becky answer the door " hope hows the crush on carli going them thought keep you up last night" laugh as Becky let's me in I jump in bed with carlos then keep poking her to get her to wake up " HOPE I know it's you as becky is nice enough to let me sleep until my alarm goes off unlike you we have roomed together enough for me to know all your tricks" laughing at the grumpy midfielder I kiss her head as I know she will forgive me easily if I do this " hey carlos what are best friends for" carli turns over and looks at me sceptically " what's got you all happy sexy dream about a team mate maybe" I couldn't help the blush on my cheeks I knew she was joking because of my phone call with dawn but it wasnt a total lie, " OMG did the hope solo just blush at that" becky shouts across the room and I bury my face in Carli's pillow with the two laughing before carli rubs my back in comfort " well clearly it's the rookie that's got you feeling this sort of way so why not shoot your shot" I look at carli like she has 2 heads before she sighs  " look hope not everyone you meet will be like Jeremy you have got to let people back in, open your heart again, it's been 18months since it ended it's time now" shaking my head I look Carli in the eyes " i cant she has a girlfriend if you remember from her call with Dann last night plus she would never want someone as broken or as emotionally scarred as me" Carli brings me into her arms like she always does when I get like this whisper encouraging words in my ear as Reba showers before breakfast.

Pov Shay

After my shower I went to find Ash and Tobs to see if they are ready for food now when I get to there room Ash opens the door with a Smirk " Fancy waking Tobs up she is still asleep" with a smirk of my own Ash moves out the way to let me in, I see Tobin snuggled into the blanket and launch myself onto of her as Ash falls on the floor laughing when Tobs look scared that someone has jumped of her, smiling at Tobins reactions " Hey tobs what are you doing in my room" she laugh and push me off of the bed " that was a good dream that you woke me up from" Me and Ash crack up before Tobs see's why we are laughing " Get your minds out of the gutter I dreamed of winning the word cup ya'll nasty asses" after they both change we leave the room for food.

We get out of the elevator with Ash and Tobs both jumping in my arms lazy shits I thought to my self as I carried these 2 losers into the hall everyone stopped there talking and looks to the 3 of us before Ali, Alex and Christen walk over to keep there girlfriends in line as I'm walking with them over to our table its Kelley who shouts out " how can you even carry both of them and how far did you carry them from" Ash and Tobs look sheepishly at there Girlfriends knowing they are about to be in trouble " umm I dont really know there not exactly heavy but I carried them from when we left the elevator down the two corridors then into here so not that far" after everyone gets over the shock we eat while joking away before Jill tells us the bus for training is on it's way.

Waiting in the lobby for the bus my nerves are kicking in because I'm new and have no clue who to sit with before I can spiral to much Christen grabs my arm and leads me to the back of the bus with her " thought you might want to sit with me bubba" I smile at her " thanks chris thought you would be sat with Tobs or Alex" after shaking her head we make small talk for a little while as we pull up to the training ground. Dawn tells us all to boot up and warm up as we will be doing a bleep test I smile at that I love a bleep test everyone but kelley and myself groan after warm ups we get in a line in order of position waiting for the bleep to start as soon as it does I don't focus on anything but the line and the bleep so i dont know how many people are still in or what number I'm on, just I'm about to run for the line again I notice there is no more bleeps so I look around at the shocked looks on everyones faces as a nervously laugh while rubbing the back of my neck wondering why everyone is looking at me like I'm from another planet " Hey why did you pause the bleeps" at that dawn shakes her head as everyone erupts in cheers " Shay I never paused it the tape finished noone has ever beaten the tape before so well done on that let's see what other records you can break in the gym this evening but first split up in your position and run drills while we wait for Jill" after nodding the forwards follow dawn as everyone breaks away to do there own drills. After 2hours of drills Jill splits us into teams for a scrimmage on my team is Ash Ali Becky kelley lindsay Julie carli Arod Christen megan and me, I have been linking up well with Carli and Christen 15 minutes in I see carli making a run in the box I glance down at the ball before putting my laces through it sending in the perfect cross that Carli header right past the out stretched hand of hope who looked at her defence in anger, alex and tobin kick off for Hope's team as they make there way to our 18 yard box when tobin takes a shot from outside the box Ali puts her leg out to stop it but it takes a deflection catching ash off guard diving the wrong way I do the only thing can do stand on the goal line to try clear ball pulling my leg back I launch the ball back to midfield but one of our defence knee's me in the nuts I stack it on the floor unable to breath as the pain in my balls sent shooting pains in my stomach, Jill blows the whistle as Dawn comes over to check on me, ignoring the worried looks on my teammates faces I allow dawn to lead me in the dressing room.

Pov Hope

I watch on as Kelley crashes into shay as they both try to clear the same ball, not sure what's happened I make my way down to the other goal box to find out what's gone on, the rookie is lead off by Dawn we all turn to Jill for some kind of explanation as to what happened " Look I know you are all worried but it's not my place to say that's down to shay to let everyone know what's wrong" I look over too see alex and carli console a distraught squirrel so i walk over and put my hand on Kelley's back " hey Squirrel look at me it's not your fault you both just collided it couldn't be avoided no one is blaming you and when Cruz gets back she will tell you her self the same thing" Kelley nods at me and walks away to grad some water.

After 40 minutes we see shay finally come back out with an ice pack she looks around for some one then walks over to the defenders on her team I run over to make sure she isn't mad at Kelley, " Hey who knocked me down" kelley looks at me with fear in her eyes I didnt think the rookie would react badly but I could be wrong, kelley sheepishly puts her hand up when shay smiles at her as she walks over the rest of the team follow closely behind to make sure nothing bad happens  " Are you okay kelley you didnt hurt yourself at all did you" everyone confused watching on at this point wondering what is going on " I crashed into you injured you and you are making sure I'm okay" Shay laughs and shakes her head before slinging her arm over a relied looking Kelley's shoulder " Hey dont worry about it you never intended to hurt me everyone one puts there bodies on the line for the love of the game" at this everyone laughs at the rookies speech " yeah you are right there but I'm sorry catching you though" patting Kelley's back shay walks back to the bench after shouting over her shoulder " dont sweat it man accidents happen we are good."
