"YOU WERE AMAZING OUT THERE !"

Nawal clapped with enthusiasm, wrapping her arms around the boy in a tight hug. The siblings hugged him as well, and soon enough, he was engulfed in a group hug. For the first time since the incident, he felt like he had a real family.

As soon as they let him go, he gave them a shy smile, taking a gentle grip on his guitar.

"Thanks."

"I think we should celebrate. How about we go to the diner ? I'm making your favourites." Nawal suggested, skipping to the minivan while glancing at her children, including Finn. Finn gave her a small smile as he climbed into his seat

"Here we go again."

The family began singing songs on their way home, and as soon as they arrived at the restaurant, Nawal rushed to the kitchen to make everybody's favourite food. The children were talking and laughing about random topics, trying to involve Finn into their conversations, as they wanted to get him out of the depressed mood.

And it worked, at least for a little while.

The family went to bed at eleven o'clock. However, Finn was in no mood for sleeping. He felt like he was fired up. A warm feeling tickled his gut as he lied down on the king-sized bed.

Today was nice. If only all days were like it. He thought.

He ran through his curly hair as he smiled, remembering Mal's proud expression. It sent butterflies down his stomach.

The next morning, Finn woke up feeling fresh. He grinned as he stared at his room's window, seeing birds flying around the tree across from his room.

He went downstairs, to the kitchen, and greeted the family with enthusiasm.

"Good morning. Can I go for a walk ?"

Nawal immediately agreed, happy to see him so excited. She gave him a small peck on his forehead as she handed him a grilled cheese sandwich.

He gladly took it, and jogged out of the house, feeling the fresh air hit his pale skin.

He took a deep breath, then went to a nearby lake. One he hadn't visited in months.

He stood on the ten-meters cliff in front of the clean, shiny water, then drifted off.

The scenery was so nice. So peaceful. He felt like he could stay here forever.

He sat down on the green grass, feeling it gently.

"Amazing." He murmured in a soft tone.

Too bad he couldn't swim. He would've jumped right then and there.

He sighed and allowed himself to relax his tensed muscles.

And lied on the grass, staring at the clear, blue sky.

Nature is so beautiful.

He lost his focus for a moment. And began to rethink what happened the day before.

5 minutes.

8 minutes.

10 minutes.

However, he felt himself return to his laser-eyes focus as he saw a blurry figure staring down at him. His vision focused suddenly, letting out a soft, surprised gasp as he saw who it was.

Once again, he saw her beautiful brown eyes staring into his soul.

Something about her made him feel uneasy though. He swallowed and sat up straight, allowing himself to look at her clearly.

"M-Mal, hey."
