Chapter 13: When There was Me and You

The Tooniversity dance was in a couple days and Maddy was still suspicious about Zoey and Zeke. At lunch, toons were signing up on who should be the next prince and princess of Tooniversity. Maddy sat with her group of friends as they watched toons gather around the signup sheet. "Good lord that's a lot of toons signing up!" Chernabella said. "Yeah I wonder who they're gonna pick," Cecilia told the group. Suddenly, Roo walked up to Maddy's group and looked unhappy. "Hi Roo, what's wrong?" Maddy asked him. "I haven't seen Applebloom today. She's missed a couple classes. Have you guys seen her?" Roo asked Maddy and her friends. "Not to my knowledge," Chernabella or Bella said. "Okay," Roo sighed sadly as he sat with Maddy's group. Just then, Maddy heard laughter near the signups. She saw what looked like Zoey and Zeke signing up for the Tooniversity dance prince and princess thing. "Could you excuse me for a minute?" Maddy asked her group. "Sure!" Trixie said. Maddy excused herself and walked over to Zeke and Zoey. Ok Maddy, you can do this, Maddy said to herself. She walked over and tapped on Zeke's shoulder. Zeke and Zoey both turned around. "Hi Zeke. I was wondering if you and I would like to go to the dance together and sign up for the Prince and Princess of the Tooniversity dance," Maddy smiled sheepishly, rubbing her arm. Zoey and Zeke then bursted into laughter. "I-I'm sorry, who are you?" Zeke asked still laughing. Maddy couldn't believe what she was hearing. "It's me Zeke, you're best friend. Don't you remember?" Maddy asked. "Listen, you must be thinking of someone else," Zeke told Maddy. Zeke wrapped arms with Zoey. "Come on babe, let's go," Zeke said as he and Zoey walked away but Maddy stopped them. "Zeke please! This is not like you!" Maddy said. Boris and his friends were watching this unfold. "Hey Bec, record this," Boris told Becca as Becca started recording on her phone. "Don't talk to my boyfriend like that!" Zoey demanded. Some toons turned around. Zoey looked at Maddy's shirt. "Daddy's Little Quester? More like Daddy's Little Loser! No wonder you're dad was such a screwup," Zoey laughed. Maddy grew furious. "Don't talk about my father that way!" Maddy bellowed. Zoey heard this and walked right up to Maddy. Just then, Maddy saw ketchup smeared on her shirt. "Oops, my bad! Better not come to the dance," Zoey said pushing Maddy to the ground as Zeke chuckled. Both Zeke and Zoey walked outside. Maddy's friends noticed this and rushed to help her. "You ok?" Cecilia asked. "That no good bitch will get what she deserves someday," Bella said. "Don't worry Maddy, we're here for you," Trixie said. Maddy sighed as her friends helped her up. "Thanks guys but I need some time alone," Maddy said. "Take all the time you need hon," Cecilia said as Maddy walked and disappeared into the hallway. Her friends looked on then went back to clean up their table. Maddy looked outside as Zeke was teaching Zoey how to play basketball. Zoey shot the ball through the hoop and cheered as Zeke gave her a hug. Zoey excepted the hug and Maddy watched while wiping away a tear. Then she started to sing:

Maddy sighed as the bell rang as toons walked around her.
