Due to my current state, Newt had felt it was best for me to work with Frypan until I made a full recovery. Despite my assertiveness on the idea that I was ready to do something big, Newt had shot down the notion.
He and the other boys were beyond worried, but I on the other hand had felt like a new person. It was as if my body had been electrified, and I was just now experiencing what it meant to be alive.
"What's got you all excited?", Newt chuckled at my wide smile and overall cheerful countenance. "I guess I'm excited to spend some time with Fry", I laughed hooking my arm around his.
"Frypan must have really left a good impression, considering you don't get this happy around me", he teased walking me towards the kitchen.
"Unlike with you, Fry and I actually have good conversations. Plus, he gives me extra food", I stated humorlessly, but the grin that crept across my face soon gave me away.
"I'm hurt. Really.", Newt dramatically placed his free hand over his heart then looked off into the distance pretending to be genuinely hurt.
I giggled at his ridiculous acting, then thought back to Frypan and what the day may entail.
Frypan and I had grown somewhat close after I was assigned to work with him in the first few days I had arrived in the Glade. Like Newt, he had helped me sort out my confusion and settle into the Glade with ease.
He had as well taught me several techniques on cooking, and expressed that I would be a master chef. The concept was soon short-lived when I had burnt a batch of eggs.
Through it all, Frypan had become a good friend and that had left me content. However, my overwhelming joy had been fuelled by another source. Unconsciously, I had seemed to like Gally more than initially planned.
While Newt and I made our way towards our initial destination, I could sense a pair of eyes burning into my skin. I had now become aware of Gally's gaze. He had been observing Newt and I carefully, his eyes sweeping across our linked arms.
I sent him a small smile, but only received a scowl in return. He quickly turned away, his eyes now directed towards his work. I frowned in confusion letting go of Newt's arm.
"What's wrong", Newt questioned at our now lack of contact. "Nothing, we're almost there", I mentioned plainly stopping infront of the kitchen. He nodded handing me off to Frypan, "Be good to her Fry".
"You know I will", Frypan swung his arm around my shoulders jovially. "Bye Newt", I said quietly. "Have fun, I'll see you soon.", he waved.
"See ya", I returned his wave then looked up at Frypan. Frypan looked down at me with a playful grin. "Ready to sort some pots and pans", he laughed evilly.
I groaned at the thought of cleaning all day, but nodded obediently holding my hand out. Frypan laughed at my slightly irritated expression, then placed the handle of a pan in my palm.
