I didn't have time to analyze the way Y/N looked at Thomas. The way her delicate hands, which usually intertwined with mine, tightly held onto his.

My eyes had followed, when she entered the Map Room. I watched as she spoke to Thomas, then to Minho. Heard the words I never thought would leave her lips, "Love? Not too long ago, I barely figured out I liked him. Love is out of the question for now. Besides, technically we're not a couple".

I didn't have time to swallow the fact that I was in love with her, but she didn't love me the same way. In the moment, she needed me and there was no room for petty argument.

I had heard her screams, helped calm Alby. Though now, we ran through the Glade aimlessly looking for shelter, witnessing the world as we knew it crumble before us.

I turned around looking at the blank stare in her eyes, soon finding shelter for her and Alby. I lightly pushed her into the room, snapping her back to reality.

Her eyes widened as the palm of her hand wrapped around my wrist, keeping me from leaving. "What are you doing?", her voice was filled with worry with an added shakiness to her drawl.

It made my skin crawl, urging me to stay, but I couldn't. I didn't know what I was doing, thinking. I didn't have a plan. All I knew was that, what was left of the Glade would collapse if I didn't try to help.

As long as she was safe here in this little hut, it didn't matter what would happen next. "I'll be back", I lied trying to sound convincing. The truth was I didn't know if I would survive any of this, but she seemed to believe that I would.

She let go of my wrist, stumbling backwards as I ran off searching for anyone I could find. I gathered a handful of boys, pushing them to follow me.

The safest place I could think of was the box. I lifted the caged door calling out to the boys behind me. "Go, go, go!", I rushed. Once I had jumped in I let the door fall shut, making a clanging sound, "Stay down. Stay down".

Not more than two seconds later, another Glader ran to the cage, "Gally! Let me in, let me in!". I lifted the door again, allowing him enough space to crawl in.

Though in one swift motion, he had been swept away by a Griever as a stinging sensation enveloped my body. My eyes widened as the door dropped once more, unable to comprehend the last few minutes.

The chaos around us ensued. Minutes passed and as time continued, a heavy pain flooded throughout my body seeming to cause an uproar of rage within me. Although I was used to anger, this was entirely different. So much so that I could not contain it.
