I hadn't seen Ben in what felt like ages

I hadn't seen Ben in what felt like ages. He had avoided me ever since Gally attempted to pound his face in for rough handling me.

Though, Ben looked drastically different, almost sickly. He was pale, his hair sticking to his face from sweat, and he held a distraught look in his eyes. He looked ready to kill.

Thomas's gut wrenching screams became louder as Ben pounced onto him. Ben's nails clawed into Thomas's legs as he made his way up, his hand now clamped onto his throat, "I'll kill you!".

Thomas moved around trying to wriggle out of his grasp yelling for help once more, but the other boys were too far off to get to him on time.I quickly grabbed the shovel nearest to me and swung hitting Ben in the jaw.

Ben staggered backwards holding onto his face. He soon looked directly at me, a fire igniting within his gaze. In an instant, I found myself pinned to the ground.

Ben lifted me up by the neck repeatedly slamming me against the ground. My arms flailed around searching for his wrists. "This is all your fault! Both of you did this to us!", He glanced at Thomas as his thumbs applied more pressure onto my larynx.

The lack of oxygen flowing through my airway had made the world around me spin. I was almost certain I was done for until the pressure around my throat was released begrudgingly.

I gasped fighting to catch my breath as I watched Gally ruthlessly ram Ben's back into a wall. Newt and a few other boys rushed over prying Gally's tightened hold off of Ben, "Gally stop. He's been stung".

Gally faltered as Newt pushed him away. A blank expression flashed across his face watching Ben become restrained against the ground.

Gally's eyes trailed to mine seemingly guilt-ridden as if he was terrified his actions had caused me to fear him. He stepped forward cautiously, then wrapped his arms around my waist in attempt to help me up.

Despite his efforts to help, my mind was elsewhere searching for Thomas. I quickly escaped Gally's grasp crawling over to him. "Are you okay?", I sat next to Thomas pulling him into a seated position.

He nodded his head, "Yeah, thank you". "What did Ben mean by saying this is our fault?", I whispered. Thomas shook his head ready to answer, but a voice soon overpowered his own, "What the hell happened?".

Thomas stood up as Chuck helped him regain his balance, "He just attacked me". The gladers now circled around us watching the scene unfold. Minho made his was over to me pulling me up.

"Minho, get Y/N out of here", Newt directed. Minho did as told, soon grabbing my hand and leading me through the crowd.

He opened the door to the medhut, sternly having me sit down on the bed at the end of the room. "Stay here, while we get everything under control. You sure you're okay?", he questioned, evidently concerned by the matter at hand.

I gestured that I was fine, secretly hoping Ben's gruesome shrieks would come to a halt, so I'd be able to rest my frenzied mind. Minho inhaled sharply, trying to detect any underlying lies, but seemed content with my answer.

The sound of the door closing signaled his departure, allowing me to let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. The relief was short before the door opened once more causing me to cock my head upwards, "Minho just go, I'll be fine".

Gally walked into the room shutting the door behind him, then stopped in front of the bed. "Hey are you okay...what happened with Ben I didn't mean to-", his eyes dropped to my neck, the outline of a dark bruise appearing.

He lifted his hand brushing my hair behind my shoulder, exposing my neck in which he carefully analyzed. His chilling touch sent an electric shock through my body supplying me with warmth.

"Why do you care?", I reluctantly withdrew myself from his gentle hold.  His hand fell limp to his side as a glimpse of hurt made its appearance, "Look, I don't know how to do this okay".

"Do what? Get someone to like you and then leave. Make them unsure if you ever truly liked them to begin with. Then, have them think this is all some sick joke.", I was no longer talking or thinking about Ben. No, this was about Gally and I, and setting our relationship straight.

"Y/N.", his hand moved to my face, his thumb gliding across my lower lip. "Stop. You can't do something sweet after messing up, and expect me to just crawl back to you!", I moved away wondering if I was being overdramatic.

Gally became irritated by my constant rejection, the anger in his voice being made evident, "What, do you want some kind of fairytale! That's not how this works. I can't be everything you want me to be".

"I'm not expecting you to be something you're not! I just want you to be a constant. I'm tired of all of this on and off crap!", I proclaimed becoming exasperated.

He shut his mouth not letting out another word in fear of saying something wrong. "This is stupid. We're fighting like we're in some kind of relationship and we're not. I hardly know you", I was unable to look at him as I tried to collect my strength.

"Well then get to know me because I want to get to know you", he said suddenly, making my heart collapse into my chest. "If you want to get to know me, show me who you are. Show me you won't just go when you get cold feet", my voice cracked revealing the soft spot I had for him.

He licked his lips an evident nervous tick as he calmly spoke, "I didn't mean to hurt you in any way by leaving. I want you around more than anything, but this", he paused pointing between the two of us, "this relationship is new to me. These feelings are all new to me".

"And as much as it seems as though I don't care about anyone, I promise you I do. I just don't know how to show it, and this change doesn't help", his confession was raw leaving him completely vulnerable.

I looked to his hand, my fingertips brushing against it. My eyes soon moved back to his face watching as his own eyes slowly fell upon our hands.

His lips curved up slightly before being replaced by a straight line, "I wasn't always this way. It's just that, someone needs to be the bad guy to toughen everyone up. To keep them alive".

I soon found myself clinging to Gally's waist, my face buried into his chest never wanting to forget his scent. He took a few seconds to register what was happening, but eventually placed his hands on my back stroking my hair.

"I'm sorry", I mumbled. "For what?", he hummed. "For doubting you", I tilted my head upward to see him fully. "You don't have to say sorry", he smiled kissing the top of my head.
