Minho and Thomas had been planning something, making Gally on edge. As they whispered secretively amongst eachother, Gally had put forward his distaste for their noncommunicative state.
His complaints were endless, completely diminishing my hopes of him having the desire to leave. If anything, Gally could care less about leaving. He wanted things his way, and he wasn't looking for any more changes.
It was naive of me to think that he would instantly change his mind after our talk last night. Why would he? Things for him were fine, but I wasn't taking no for an answer.
I wanted to keep him safe just as much as he wanted to keep me safe, and I wasn't planning on leaving without him. Though in order to do that, I needed to speak with Thomas once and for all.
Frypan wiped the sweat from his forehead as he rested his body against a table. He looked to me with tired eyes, "Take the rest of the day off, I think we've cooked enough".
He smiled comically which evoked a small laugh from me. "Are you sure you don't need any more help?", I asked turning around to place a rag on a makeshift hook.
He shook his head then looked around, "Nope. Besides, don't you have a checkup with Clint or Jeff?". I gasped mentally cursing myself for forgetting something so important.
With that, I wiped my hands on my apron before quickly peeling it off. "Oh my gosh, thank you for reminding me", I said as I mindlessly pulled him into a short hug.
"Yeah, yeah, now go on", he laughed patting me on the back. I rushed myself out of there, focused on getting to the medhut on time.
As I ran across the Glade, Gally clouded my field of vision leading me to stop. He had been yelling at his builders over something petty, but he wasn't what had me distracted.
The hushed voices escaping the Map Room seemed to lure my attention away. It was as if I was being given the decision to choose my path, but I didn't want to have to choose.
I stood there mentally arguing with myself. I should have been heading to the medhut, and there was no doubt Gally would be making his way over there soon. Though, my curiosity got the best of me as I cautiously looked around before opening the door.
Within the Map Room stood Minho, Newt, and Thomas. Each boy looked up with fear in their eyes as if I had just walked in on them committing a crime. Their bodies relaxed as they watched my body emerge from the doorway.
Their attention seemed to snap back to the conversation that had revived itself, leaving me standing at the doorway awkwardly. I closed the door behind me as I looked back at the three boys, "Thomas".
Thomas looked away from the table that he had pressed his palms into to keep him balanced as he leaned forward. "Thomas, I've been needing to talk to you", my voice came with slight uncertainty leading Minho and Newt's eyes to trail over to me.
"Is everything okay?", a concerned expression washed over his face. I shook my head trying to halt an outpour of emotions, "No".
I thought to myself how I shouldn't be here. How it would upset Gally. How "conspiring with his enemies" would only cause our relationship to drift apart. How I should be in the medhut with him.
I didn't like having to follow Gally's orders on who I could and could not talk to. I also didn't like going behind his back. Though, it needed to be done to convince him of the necessities of finding a way out. I wanted answers and solutions to keep us safe. To ensure he was safe.
"What's going on?", my voice trembled more prominently. Minho, Thomas, and Newt looked amongst eachother mentally communicating to stay quiet. "Nothing", they stated simultaneously.
"Look, I'm not stupid. I know you're all trying to find a way out", I cautiously stepped forward. "Not everyone here is against it. I want answers too", the look on their faces softened as I let out my frustration.
"All I ask is for you, Thomas, to promise me that you'll get us out of here", Thomas opened his mouth to speak but shut it as he waited for me to continue.
"With Ben, the empty box, your dreams, my premonitions, I don't think we have much time left. You found a way out, so you're our only hope", I extended my hands soon grasping his.
"Hey we can do this together", he squeezed my hands reassuringly. "Just promise me", I let go, my hands falling to my sides. "I promise I'll get us all out of here", he nodded.
"What are you going to do about Gally?", Minho chimed in randomly. "What does this have to do with Gally?", I questioned despite knowing this had everything to do with Gally.
"Well, don't you love him? I thought that since you were with him, you'd think about this situation in the same way", he scratched his chin.
His question had caught me off guard, leaving me to dismiss the second half of his statement. I hadn't decided if I loved him yet. Sure I cared for him, but love. Love was different, love was serious.
"Love? Not too long ago, I barely figured out I liked him. Love is out of the question for now. Besides, technically we're not a couple", I scoffed. Newt chuckled at my answer as he looked back to Minho, awaiting his commentary.
"That's a shocker, you guys fight and talk like you've been married for 10 years", Minho rolled his eyes. I let out a small laugh before turning around. "I'm going to convince him to come with us", with that I left the Map Room closing the door behind me.
I needed to be where I should have been minutes ago, and Gally would be there waiting for me in the medhut. Like he always did.
My assumption of Gally's presence was not made true as I walked into the Medhut. In his place sat Alby, who looked confused. "Alby?", I let out a shaky breath. I mentally questioned how was he awake and not tied to the bed. Had the serum worked?
Alby swung his feet off of the mattress so he was facing me. His look of confusion was soon masked by a bewildered expression. "Why are you here? You shouldn't be here.", he now stood slowly walking over to me.
I took a large step backwards trying to create distance, "I'm sorry, I needed to see Jeff". "No, why are you here in the Glade? You were supposed to come later!", the look in his eyes almost reflected that of a wild animal.
He was in some sort of trance. I moved backwards until there was nowhere left for me to go, "What?". That's when he pounced. Alby shook me frantically, yelling out phrases that were inaudible.
"Gally!", I shrieked unsure if anyone would be able to hear me. To my relief, in a matter of seconds Gally pried Alby off of me. I stumbled trying to regain my composure before I stood wide eyed watching Gally hold Alby in place.
Gally managed to turn around, snapping me out of my blank stare. "Go get Clint!", he ordered. I nodded running out of the Medhut.
Alby seemed to be the least of our problems as I witnessed a new scene unfold infront of me. The wall's opening had been left agape as the rumble of the surrounding walls opening up echoed throughout the Glade.
