That son of a bitch, I thought. I'm going to kill him.
The room went crazy as Kat walked out. Everyone was yelling. Most balming Roman, others trying to justify his actions. Some were saying she's a blood whore, and it's her fault for getting involved with moroi. Most of the talk before she left was already about her, and the person who she walked in with, Nathaniel Dragomir, the next Dragomir prince.
Lily's lawyer was a man, goes by the name Jeremiah Goodwell. I met during my time with the Conta's. He's a moroi man around his mid forties that works very closely with the royal families. I thought he knew about the strigoi thing.
Kenna knows she was lying, she's the one that told us what they did to her when we got Kat back, to be prepared to handle it and help her through it. Kenna on the other hand has seen it happen, and she knows for a fact that Lily knew.
Kenna looked back at me. I knew she wanted to talk to me about Kat, and now this.
Queen Vasilissa tried to quiet down the room to no avail. This was pretty much a lost cause. No one trusted a word that came out of Roman's mouth, at this point it just seemed like he was trying to get out of trouble.
We all heard rumors of what happened in those few days Kat was with them. Both Roman and Kenna shot most of them down quickly. But they also just gave up. The gossip at St Vladimir's Academy spread like wildfire, most were true, some was just straight up outlandish.
I got up and tried to leave. But Adelaide caught my arm, "Where are you going?"
"I have to go check on Kat." I said.
"Here we go again." She rolled her eyes.
I was going to say something, but then you heard a loud bang.
"Enough!" Vaslissa yelled. This was probably the first time anyone has heard her raise her voice. "The council and I will reevaluate our terms with Mr. Svelsky, in the meantime, court's dismissed."
The room broke into debate once again. It was mostly all the older Moroi that got closer to the front. We stood up going outside. We were a handful of people who left knowing this wasn't going to end anytime soon.
Someone stopped me.
Kenna stood there standing tall and very serious, she was in her signature green. "Where the hell have you been?" She asked.
"I've been meaning to talk to her , I swear." I said.
"Bullshit." She looked back at Adelaide, "You moved on pretty quickly."
"You don't know the full story."
"You left her when she needed you the most." Nate joined the conversation.
"You don't know the full story." Kenna stepped out of the way. "I tried to be here. Not everyone has a trust fund and can leave their lives behind. I tried being here as much as I could, I was kept informed."
"Why didn't you see her? We were at her house, you weren't there when she turned back. You made new friends in high places, and you aren't there for her. She going through something life changing and your here fucking a differnt girl every night." He pushed me back, "Yeah we heard about your little bar trip last night."
"I'm surprised you're still here, you have a reputation of living when things get serious."
"You're messed up Martin. You drink your problems away instead of facing them."
He pushed past me. I wanted to say so much, but I couldn't. He didn't know all the facts. I try to be here for her, I try to be the best guy for her.
