Being completely honest, I thought these couple of months were gonna go by pretty slow. It's been two months since I last saw Kat. But life at the academy has been keeping me pretty busy. I haven't had time to actually think about her. I dream with her, when I'm actually able to go to sleep.

Recently my life has been taken over by another over dramatic teenage girl. Maddie West had been keeping me on my toes and way from the mess at court. I promised Adrian Ivanskov, a moroi who took her in after she was found in what he would describe as a "toutrure camp" took take care of her during her time at the academy. I said yes, thinking Kat would be helping me.

I never thought the girl I love would turn into a strigoi. I regret helping her that night. She would be here if I talked her down. But she had to do it. That's who she is.

A knock at my door woke me up. I got up to answer and was surprised to find Maddie here so late. She looked ready for her day at the academy. She stood there with her brown blondish hair pulled back in a low ponytail and her bright hazel eyes shone without the help of the sun. If it weren't for her outfit, I wouldn't have known what she's been doing. She was probably training with Kai.

"You look like you haven't gotten any sleep." She said as soon as I opened the door.

"What's up?"  I asked her, knowing she was here for something.

"I ran into Alberta on my way back to my room and she told me we've been summoned by the queen, something about being subpoenaed for the trial." She took a deep breath.

"And?" I knew there was more with that sigh, she always does that when she's hiding something.

She froze, took another deep breath, "There's been talk around school you know... the royals have been hearing about Katerina getting charged. It's just talk though, Alexei doesn't think Queen Vasilissa would do that."

I've heard about these rumors from my friends back at court. My friend Adelaide Conta, the sister of a princess, has been keeping me updated on the trial and on Kat. Everything on Kat has been pretty tight lipped and no one really knows anything.

"You should get going. The car is about to leave." Maddie added, "I'll see later."

She wanted to say more, but she knew I would find everything out myself. I left for court first out of everyone here. The Conta Princess has demanded for my presence. The rest of the gang, Kai, Mark, Alexei, Kenna, Davina, Maddie, and Roman would be getting on the plane after lunch.

I grabbed my suitcase and left for the main office ready to leave Montana. I've been excited for this day, the day I see Kat again. The last words I've ever said to her, before she turned strigoi, kept replaying in my head, "You don't need an iron suit to be badass."

I don't want to come back to this place without her. These last two months have been miserable. Every little thing reminds me of her. I see her friends everyday being able to live life without her. Everything went back to before she came to the academy.

I remember our first day. We met at the front office. Kat just finished with her papers as she just got enrolled and was heading to her first class. I've been there for three days, and I was there signing some papers about a boy who got hurt during a training exercise. I was assigned to get her through her classes her very first day, as I was already at the office. And her dad, Dimitri Belikov, probably had something to do with it. I knew everything about her, but she knew nothing about me. She didn't talk to me until her third period. Kat asked me what time was lunch as she was starving. She explained that she didn't eat as she came straight here after as soon as got off the plane.

She said "They gave me a granola bar, a fucking granola bar."

I got her out of class about thirty minutes early. And this girl ate. She had two chicken sandwiches, chips, a donut, and cherry coke. I've never seen someone eat as much as she did. I looked at her with wide eyes.
