I was in the cave again. It was badly lit, I could barely figure out the silhouettes of the creatures around me. I was coming in and out, unable to focus on one thing, on a voice.
I gasped, waking up before I remembered too much. It was still light outside, meaning it was probably the middle of the night in our time.
I decided not to go back to bed. For the first time in three days, ever since Steve's testimony, I left my bed. I've been embarrassed to leave my house. I revealed my relationship with Steve the same day his baby was born. I don't want to run into him and see him happy with his new family, I wasn't ready for it to actually be over. My friends and family respected my space. I am heartbroken.
For the first time in history: I, Katerina Belikov-Hathaway, fell in love with a boy, a boy she can never have.
"You're being melodramatic." Asher shot through the bond.
God I really hate this sometimes, "My thoughts Ash, my thoughts."
I went over to guest housing, where Asher was waiting for me.
I've barely been able to sleep, which isn't allowing Asher to sleep with my racing thoughts and nightmares.
The sun's up, and as a moroi Asher never really sees the sun, let alone like it. But I love it.
We head down to the court's food and shopping area. Everything was pretty much closed this late. Except for my favorite diner, Cherry's. They serve some of the best cheeseburgers and milkshakes. Their cherry pie is to die for. And their chicken sandwiches, would for sure be Stan Alto approved. It's the only place opened 24/7.
Cherry, the waitress, the only person in here at this time, smiled at us as soon as we walked in. She immediately went to the back to get out food.
Asher and I sat at the bar, waiting.
Twenty minutes later, Cherry came back, leaving the food on the counter.
"Is your friend okay?" She asked, "I haven't seen him in a few days."
"What friend?"
"Tall, brown hair, gorgeous eyes. Always so serious, has a book in his hand. Little blonde girl always with him."
"Steve?" I looked at Asher.
"He's been coming here looking for. He stays for hours, waiting for you to walk in. I haven't seen him or Maddie since the trial."
He's with his new born baby.
I just grabbed the food and walked out.
"Kat." Asher was basically running to keep up.
I stopped in the middle of the field. I just sat down, taking out my cheeseburger. Asher sat next to me grabbing his food, Cherry's world famous cherry pie.
"I think I love him." I blurted out.
"I know."
"I can't. He's a dad, and I can't be a mom. Look at me, I'm a mess. I can't help raise a baby. I'm a freak, with uncontrollable emotions." My voice started to break, "There's so much going on in here." I tapped my head, "And I don't know how to deal with it anymore."
He grabs my hand, "I know." I felt some ease come through the bond, "You have me."
I looked him right in the eye, "Compel me to forget."
"Kat, no."
"Ash, plese, it'll make it easier."
"No."
