Being locked in a cell, as an undead creature, does really mess up your perspective of time. If you asked me how long I've spent in the cell, I would have said maybe one week, two at the most. But I was wrong. After I woke up from probably the longest nap of my life, I found that I was locked in the cell for two months. Everyone started to move on and live their lives without me.

I woke up and stared at the ceiling. I wasted two months of my life in a cell.

"You're awake?" A voice in my head said.

    "Ash? You're still here?"

"Did you really think I would abandon my best friend in her time of need. Come down stairs."

The real part of turning back that I'm dreading. Going back to the real world. I put on a robe and slowly made my way down stairs. Malakai, Davina, Kenna, Alexei, Mark, Declan, and Asher were downstairs waiting for me. I gave them all a weak smile.

"Steve?" was the only thing that came out of my mouth.

"I haven't seen him since the courtroom." Asher answered.

"He's probably getting Maddie out of some trouble, I'm sure he'll be here soon." Kenna said. She walked over and rubbed my shoulder, "How are you feeling?"

"Like my head is pounding, and my stomach feels weird, and I'm just tired." I sat on the couch, "What happened?"

"They turned you back and quickly took you away to get the magical blood out of you to make it into tattoo ink. You were out most of it. You woke up once saying something about bringing down a veil." Nate answered.

Asher looked at me, he knew what I was talking about. He read my thoughts.

I got up, "I need to talk to Sonya." I made my way through them to the door.

Declan pulled me back, "I don't think you should be out there."

"Declan, I know what I'm doing. I can't stay here and be scared of what people might say about me."

I opened the door and walked out. It felt weird being out here. It brought back memories. Some I don't want to even remember. I made my way to the palace. I found a line of dhampirs. Many just stared at me, others couldn't be bothered with my presence. I walked into the room. I quickly spotted Sydney.

"You shouldn't be here." She said as soon as she saw me. She tried getting me out of the room.

"I need to talk to Sonya, where is she?"

    "Kat, you shouldn't be here."

    "Sydney, where is she?"

She looked around and sighed, "She's in a meeting, I'll tell her you came looking for her."

I could have listened to her and just went straight home, but I needed to talk to Sonya. I went into the palace and started looking for her.

Before I went to St. Vlad's, I would always be escorted to one of these rooms to either interrupt a meeting, or wait for my parents.

I opened each door, waiting to hit the right one. I swung open the fifth or sixth door, the room was almost packed. My aunt Lissa, uncle Christian, my parents, Sonya, Jill, and the counsel members were sitting around a conference table. I recognized some of the council members, I was surprised to see Steve here too with Contessina Conta.

"Kitty." My dad looked over at me, "You should be home, resting."

"I-" I looked at Steve, "I came to talk to Sonya."
