She's dead now.

It's been a few days since Lily's execution. It all feels surreal. I never expected to feel like this, I feel sorry. I don't feel sorry because she died, I feel sorry for her family, her siblings, who are going to have to deal with the consequences of her actions.

We were all going back to the academy. I can't wait to be back home.

I was sitting at a booth in Cherry's dinner, back to my normal routine. I haven't seen her in a few days. But I heard she's been around court with her family and friends.

The door opened, Maddie came in and sat down.

"Back to our normal routine are we?" She grabbed my coffee and took a sip. She stuck her tongue out, "Bleh, too sweet."

I took my coffee back, "No, not yet."

Not until we go back to the academy and we can all go back to normal. Go back to the academy with my Kat.

"Come on, everyone is ready to go back to the academy. We're just waiting on you." Maddie grabbed my stuff.

"Goodbye Cherry." I yelled at the waitress.

"Bye Steve, hope to see you in the summer."

I hoped I didn't have to come back to this place until Kat graduated. Or unless the queen needed me for an important mission.

Maddie and I made our way to the palace where we were set to meet the rest of the group. We walked in and everyone was already there waiting for us. Kat was there talking to her parents and grandmother, saying her goodbyes for the last couple weeks of school she has left, until she comes home.

Declan was also surprised I was even there.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" He asked me.

"I have to get back to work."

"I thought you would stay here with Contessina and the baby."

"The baby isn't mine."

"How do you know?"

"He's moroi."

Declan's jaw just dropped, he didn't know what to say.

"The best part is she named him after my dad."

"You're joking?"

"Nope."

He was still shocked, "Man, she really is crazy."

I nodded.

The queen's personal staff came to help us get things in the car. I went to help Kat with her bags, and she gave me a weird look, a surprised one. Surprised I was even here. The staff took her bags and we just stood there looking at each other.

"Hey, how do you feel?" I asked her.

She just looked at me, kinda like she didn't want to be there, "Fine."

"Where have you been, I've been looking for you, I want to talk."

Before she could answer, Nate came from behind and wrapped his arms around her, and said, "Hey babe, I wanted to see you one last time before you leave." He kissed her forehead.

I was confused. Nate and Kat? Since when? I thought we had something going, I thought we were together, just like we were before she turned strigoi. How things were going before her testimony, we were fine, I thought we were fine. It was like how it was back at the academy, we were back to normal.
