It wasn't until she felt the ground beneath her feet again that she let go of the breath she was holding.
They immediately went to go and pick up the kid. The door to the living place slid open, and they found the pair of amphibians happily sitting around the child, all of them looking down at something in a bowl.
"Thank you for watching him." Din said in greeting as he walked up to the table, "Okay kid. Come on, it's time to go."
As he went to pick him up, the child gave a scream of defiance and Ellia had to swallow down a laugh.
"Let's go. Come on, kid." he grunted, then turning his head over, he nodded at the two adult creatures. "Congratulations." he added with a nod.
As they walked back out of the door together, the child squeaked again.
"No. I have enough pets." Din mumbled.
They finally made their way back over to the docking bay that they had left the Crest on. And when they did, all of the color immediately drained from Ellia's face.
"You've got to be kidding me." she said breathlessly.
The poor ship was very literally being held together by strings and slabs of other miscellaneous materials. The Mon Calamari mechanic sidled up next to him, his hands on his hips.
"I gave you a thousand credits, this was the best you could do?" Din asked.
All the Calamari did in response was hold up a data pad.
Din sighed heavily, and clicked it, securing the deal before they begrudgingly walked towards the ship.
Inside, it was worse, especially the cockpit. Fishing nets and strings hung everywhere, like a laser maze.
Din placed the child down in one of the passenger seats.
"Mon Calamari. Unbelievable." Din sighed as he flicked some of the switches on the control panel to bring the ship online, having to reach around several cords to do so. "Whelp, we finally know where to take you. But it's gonna be a bumpy ride."
As the ship rose from the platform, it did so with a horrifying shake.
. . .
Din eventually managed to make the jump to hyperspace, but it didn't make the ride any more pleasant.
Having retreated down into the hull, Ellia sat with her back pressed up against the wall, trying to get used to the feeling of the shaking while absentmindedly cleaning off her blaster.
The air inside of the ship was a bit tense, despite the success that they left behind on Trask. Obviously the state of the ship was nothing to be desired, but it certainly didn't help when Din came clambering down into the hull, abandoning the situation into the cockpit. He swatted nets aside as he went, groaning and grumbling under his breath.
Ellia eyed him suspiciously, but at first was content with minding her own business.
That was, until upon being unable to get the weapons cabinet open on his first try, he slammed his palm against the wall in anger.
The loud bang echoed around the hull, causing Ellia to jump.
"You alright?" she asked slowly.
"Fine." Din spat back in response.
An awkward silence followed his steaming words, one that she found herself desperate to break. A desire she would only come to regret later.
"So...how do you think she came into contact with the Jedi in the first place?" she asked, going back to cleaning her gun.
