Ellia and Din wasted no time taking off for the temple at the top of the hill, rocketing themselves over the terrain at high speeds.
The transport ship docked itself right next to the Razorcrest, in the clearing several leagues away from the mountain. They continued to sprint through the brush, neither of them saying a word.
When they finally reached the top, they found Grogu still sat in his meditative state, the blue forcefield unrelenting around him.
"Time to go, kid!" Din shouted.
In a desperate attempt, the Mandalorian tried to break through the forcefield once again, but just like last time, he was thrown across the temple by a large energy blast. When he fell to the ground, his entire body stilled.
Ellia's eyes widened as she ran to his side.
"Din?" she shouted, shaking his shoulders.
From across the valley, she could hear the echo of gunfire. Fennec and Boba must have already begun to engage the troopers. And as impressive as they were, she just couldn't see them taking on an entire battalion by themselves.
Ellia turned back towards Din worriedly, who was moving, albeit very slowly. He must have hit his head pretty hard as a result of the blow-back.
"Din. Come on, you gotta get up." she urged, shaking his shoulders again.
With a panicked glance, she looked over her shoulder at Grogu, but the child had yet to show any sign of movement. In the midst of all the chaos, his form was a harsh contrast of peace.
Gunfire turned into explosions as the imperials supposedly brought out more heavy artillery. And then, from the clouds above, another transport shirt beamed towards the surface.
Din groaned under her, and she tried to lift him up.
"They just brought in another transport ship. We have to help them!" she explained to the still delirious Mandalorian.
She finally managed to get him standing, and he quickly looked around with new senses. First at the battle across the valley, then the girl in front of him, and finally back at Grogu.
"That's it, kid!" Din tried calling out.
He went to approach the forcefield again, but Ellia was quick to grab his arm.
"Din, no!" she shouted sternly, "It will just happen again! He's safe in there. The best thing we can do for him is protect him from out here. Get rid of the troopers." she reasoned.
He looked back down at her for a second longer, but eventually she heard him give off a heavy sigh. Ellia nodded as if he had spoken, glancing back over at the stone.
"Grogu! I don't know if you can hear us, but we're going to protect you!" she shouted, "Just stay there! We'll be back soon!"
With that, they were sprinting back down the mountain again.
They quickly came up on Fennec's position, noting how she had been surrounded by a small squadron.
"Give yourselves up!" one of them shouted. "We don't want you, we want the Child!"
Din jumped up on top of the rock that Fennec was using to shield herself, releasing a flurry of whistling birds into the crowd of troopers.
"Ok, let's move in!" Din ordered the group.
Ellia sidled up next to Fennec, brandishing her blaster as the group of them descended on the troopers. Using the boulder as a center point, they pivoted around each other, exchanging fire.
