Three years have passed since the day known as the "Battle of Heaven and Earth." We located Furlan about a week after the said battle. I couldn't keep my promise to Eren. We had to flee or we'd be killed by the Jaegerists that now control the militia. It was our home that Eren tried to save but now we're no longer welcome there.
We made our home in Marley. We practically adopted Falco and by default, Gabi. They've grown so much since that day, both taller than Levi already.
"I wonder how it's going with the others," I comment, pushing Levi's wheelchair. In his lap is a newspaper and our two-year-old daughter, Isabel Lilian Ackerman. Furlan walks in front of us, Falco and Gabi next to me. Gabi smiles at all the city life and Falco looks at her expression, grinning. It won't be long before they marry. Levi and I have already called it.
Levi's scarred face looks up at me, answering. "Historia promised safe travel for them. It'll be okay."
Gabi chuckles at me. "You're such a mother hen to all of us. Isn't she, Falco?"
"Hey, don't drag me into this." He puts his hands up in surrender.
I grin at the two, shaking my head. "Someday, we too, will return."
10 years later
Dear El,
I hope you, Levi, Furlan and Isabel are all doing well. I want to extend an invitation to your family to come for a visit. I've missed my dear friend.
Please respond promptly.
With love,
Queen Historia
I hold the letter in my hand as we leave the ship, still in shock that I'll step foot in my homeland once again. Furlan pushes his father while Isabel runs ahead, looking at everything in awe, her blonde hair blowing behind her.
"El."
My head whips in the direction of the voice. "Forest!" I run to him, being embraced mid-jump. He spins me around, grinning from ear-to-ear.
"I can't believe that you're actually here!" he exclaims, taking a step away and looking me up and down as if I'll disappear, his hands still on my arms.
"Oi, get away from my wife," Levi says, but there's no malice in his voice.
"Damn, you look rough," he says to my husband.
"You've always been a brat." Still, they nod to each other. Forest puts his arm around Leigha, who has been patiently waiting. We greet each other with a slight headshake.
"So where's my goddaughter?" I ask, looking around.
"Right here, auntie," a willowy figure with dark hair greets me, coming out from behind her mother.
"Wow Elizabeth, what have they been feeding you to get that tall? Maybe they should give some to Levi!" I pull her into a hug, feeling her return it. I introduce Furlan, watching a deep blush grace her features when he kisses her hand in greeting.
Another figure approaches and I immediately recognize her. "Tori!"
"Ellie!" she responds, pulling me into a hug. "It's so good to finally see you! Letters are not enough! This is my daughter, Ymir." I cover my mouth at the brunette thirteen-year-old in front of me, the spitting image of Eren. When my eyes make contact with Historia's again, she nods slightly. I should've known earlier. Some bodyguard I was.
"Cath and Ginger are waiting for us. They prepared a feast pretty much," Forest says, pointing back towards what is probably Trost, or what was Trost. Things have probably changed a lot since we've been here.
"Alright. Let's go home."
A/N: I want to thank everyone that followed me through this journey and stuck with Eliora. I'm so grateful for all my readers and doing this epilogue was really hard for me. I started this story back in August 2019 when I was going through a really bad time in my life. This story is very personal to me, even though it's a fanfiction. I will miss it as much as I miss Attack on Titan itself. Once again, thank you.
