Mehwish's P.O.V.
The following day at work, I was instructed to go to his room because I had to work with him.
I knocked on his open door.
"Good morning, Ms. Inayat." A smile tugged at his lips.
"Good morning. What's my task?" I asked shortly.
He gestured at the set of binders on his desk then handed me a sheet, "Can you compile all the records of this client?"
I nodded and got to work.
"Zahid, I don't see any records for this person in this binder. I've found them for all the months in the preceding years, but not for 2007."
"Maybe you can check the blue binder." He indicated at the bookshelf behind me.
I nodded and stood in front of it as I flipped through it. Only when I closed it did I realize Zahid was walking towards me. For some reason, I began backing up every step he took until I was pressed against the bookshelf. His face was now an inch away from mine. My heart seemed as if it was going to pump out of my chest. I closed my eyes as he began leaning closer. I thought I was going to feel his lips, but I instead felt his warm breath on my ear, "Don't worry. I won't do anything until you want me to."
I opened my eyes and he took a step back after taking a different blue binder off the shelf.
"Here it is." He handed the binder to me before walking back to his seat.
I cleared my throat and quickly nodded before going back to the pile of documents.
I pulled at my collar. Was it getting hot in here?
I looked at him. How was it fair that he was so good looking and nice, yet he had to go and do what he did to us!
Before I knew it, lunch time had arrived, but I still had a ton of records to gather.
"You're not going to take your lunch break now?"
I shook my head, "If I continue working, I'll finish sooner."
He got up.
"Where are you going? You didn't order up?"
"They're serving Italian today. I wanted to go check it out for myself."
This was his indirect way of letting me know that they were going to have my favorite cuisine.
"I'm pretty sure they have spicy pink sauce pasta, which sounds really good right now. I've been craving it. And mm, warm garlic bread. Are you sure you don't want to eat anything?"
My stomach rumbled.
"I guess I'll just bring it up and eat while I work." I mumbled quietly as he smiled to himself.
After the silent elevator ride and getting our meals, we reached the cashier. I paid first then began making my way back to the elevator slowly. I stopped when I heard Lidia, "Z-Zahid."
"What's up, Lidia?"
"I, um, was wondering if you were free tomorrow night. We could grab dinner and maybe a movie?"
"I'm sorry, Lidia. Thank you for asking. It means a lot, but my heart belongs to someone else."
I turned to look at him only to find him already looking at me.
