Mehwish's P.O.V.
The following morning, I showered and did my makeup to go with the blush color pant suit, white top, and nude heels that I wore.
I sat my luggage near the main door before taking a copy of the signed sponsorship contract with me to the kitchen, "Good morning, Bernard."
He turned around as he continued to whisk some eggs and milk, "Oh! Good morning, ma'am."
"Where's Zahid?"
"Sir's still in his room."
"Gotcha. Thanks."
I knocked on his open bedroom door. He wasn't there, but his dark blue blazer was on his bed, "Zahid?"
"In here." He said as he stepped out from the bathroom, wiping his face with a towel.
He was wearing a white button-down shirt with a dark blue vest, matching pants, black tie, and brown shoes.
I walked in and stood in front of his bed.
"Ready?" He asked with a smile as he hung the towel on a chair and walked over to where I was standing to get his blazer.
"Mhm. Have you prepared what you are going to say? I wanted to make sure you mention all the things they specifically wanted" I said, opening the contract file.
He put the blazer on then began adjusting the handkerchief in the chest pocket when I realized the collar wasn't set properly behind his neck. My arms reached around his neck, fixing the fabric, as I looked up at him to find a spec of shaving cream on his cheekbone. I placed my hand on his cheek to wipe it but froze when our eyes locked. No matter what we've been through or whatever he's done, I can't help it, I can never get over how beautiful his eyes are. My thumb swiped across his cheek slowly as I could hear my heart beating in my ears.
We both stepped back when his phone beeped with a message. He quickly slid it out, "Mr. Anand. He's on his way."
I looked down and nodded. I didn't even realize what I was doing. I had just instinctively reached for his collar. I didn't realize how close we were until he got the text.
He walked over to his suitcases and grabbed them before we walked out of his room, "So, I, uh, was planning on saying this..."
I was grateful for how he tried to make things normal.
We continued rehearsing and revising his statements while eating French toast and fruit.
Bernard walked in and collected our plates, "Mr. Anand is here. I've put the lunches in the car."
"Thank you, Bernard. And thank you for all that you have done on this trip. Each meal was delicious, really." Zahid said sincerely.
"It's always a pleasure to serve you, sir. I hope you visit again soon."
Zahid smiled at him before he left.
"I'm going to miss London."
"We've still got a few hours left. If you like any of the offices we'll see later on, then maybe you will be coming here more often."
He nodded before replying, "I'm not sure who Abba would designate to oversee everything here. I know he would want someone he's closely worked with, but I can't think of anyone he'd choose to have transfer over here. We need all those currently there to head the departments."
"He could hire someone and coach them for a while before sending them here."
"That's a good idea. I'll bring it up when I speak to him." He flashed me a smile.
