Zahid's P.O.V.

After Mehwish and I left the guest room, I went to the kitchen while she sat with Ayaara in the living room.

Sarooha Mami and Dadi were in the kitchen getting tea ready.

"Ami, you know, I think after Mahira, our Zahid will be next."

My eyes grew large.

"He should be! After Mahira, he is the oldest."

"Dadi!" I exclaimed.

"I will go give this cup of tea to your Dadaji" she replied smugly before leaving the kitchen.

"So? Since when?" Sarooha Mami probed with a raised eyebrow and smirk.

"What, Mami?"

"Don't 'what, Mami?' me, Zahid. You and Mehwish. Since when?"

"Oh." The tip of my ears began burning.

"Hmm 'oh.'" She nodded sarcastically and laughed.

She continued, "So?"

"It's been a few months, and... I really love her" I shared slowly.

She squealed before walking over and hugging me, "I'm so happy! Seeing you in love and so smiley all the time warms my heart, beta."

"I want to marry her." I continued.

"What!" she gushed.

I laughed before warning her, "Don't tell Alif Mama or anyone else yet."

"I won't. Does Ayaan know though?"

"No, I didn't tell Abba yet, but I know he's fond of her too."

"You have no idea how happy I am, Zahid. My baby is all grown up!"

Mehwish's P.O.V.

He stood alone watching the fairy light-lit backyard, his back facing me.

"Farhan?"

"Hey, Mehwish." He turned around with a small smile.

"What are you doing out here by yourself?"

"Oh, it was, um, getting hot in there, so I decided to step outside."

I nodded before walking over closer to him.

I took a deep breath before asking, "What's wrong, Farhan?"

"Hm? Nothing."

"Farhan."

"Mehwish." He copied my tone.

"Farhan, we've been friends long enough for me to know something is bothering you. You seem lost."

He looked away, focusing his eyes on the grass, "It's nothing."

I began slowly, "Did you.. used to like Mahi-"

He began laughing softly and shook his head, "Did Zahid tell you that? How many times do I have to tell him I'm over it? It was just a childhood crush!"

I cleared my throat, speaking more seriously, "But it seems otherwise. I've noticed every time she's around, you secretly look at her. You get uncomfortable seeing her close with Zia Bhai. You didn't even come to the mehendi yesterday. That doesn't make it seem like you're over it, Farhan."

"Keeping tabs on me, Mehwish?" he smiled faintly.

"Farhan."

Tears began to well in his eyes.
