Zahid's P.O.V.
The fact that she didn't say she doesn't love me means I still have a chance. It gave me the hope that I needed, and I won't let go of it. All the pain I put her through, all the misconceptions and confusion she has about me, about us, I was going to make up for it. I would do whatever it takes to get her back.
"Zahid?"
"Hm?"
"What's on your mind, beta?" Abba asked while I was sat in front of his desk.
"I was just thinking." I shook my head casually.
He nodded his head slowly as he observed me. Before he could ask anything more, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." He answered.
"Assalamwalaikum. Good morning, Uncle."
"Walaikumsalam, Mehwish. Come sit."
Without glancing at me, she sat down next to me with a notepad in hand.
Abba looked back and forth at us.
"Good morning, Mehwish." I greeted her warmly.
"Good morning, Zahid." She said with a fake smile.
A smile of my own tugged at my lips. My Mehwish was mad at me, but deep down, I know everything would be okay. We just need time.
"Mehwish, could you please—oh, great, you brought your notes. Could you please tell me more about the London offices? Zahid, you also give me your input. How was the area? The pros and cons of each compared to one another? Etcetera."
We both nodded before she began describing the offices we had visited.
I admired her face as she and Abba spoke.
"Yeah, I agree. The layout is pretty similar to our office here, but I would say this second location was more spacious. Only issue I'd say would be the limited parking space." She responded to him.
The way her brown eyes were twinkling as she explained made me want to keep staring at her forever.
"Mhm, but the third place has a larger snack bar and a larger view of the downtown area. The number of cabins is fewer though. The first place had a similar view and has more floors; however, they belong to different types of agencies."
She had her own glow, her own light.
"Oh, I'm not sure."
I think I would run out of words if I tried explaining how much she meant to me, how much I love her.
She moved her head towards me.
What wouldn't I give just to be next to her for the rest of my life.
"Zahid!"
"Huh?" I looked at Abba.
"What are you thinking about? I have been calling your name." He said with a raised eyebrow and confused smile.
"Yeah, yeah, I-"
"What did you think about the first and third offices?"
At the same time, Mehwish and I leaned closer to each other so I could see her notes to remind myself. Her face was an inch away from mine. She looked up at me slowly and it was as if time had slowed until she cleared her throat, handed the notepad to me, and moved away.
I gave my opinion to which Abba nodded quietly.
"Alright, thank you both. I think I've narrowed my choices down to the first and third offices, but I think I will have to go over there myself before purchasing one of them."
