Last night, as we do every year, we got to the Weasley's late in the evening. The only thing that was different was that Georgie was in the living room waiting for us. Normally he just waits in his room and when I get there, I go to his room, so it's a little odd to see him out of his room on Christmas Eve. We headed to his room together, I got my reindeer pjs on in the bathroom and was just about to curl up in the makeshift bed that was made for me when I heard Georgie.
    "Rayne?"
    "Yes?" I responded hesitantly.
"Won't you come sleep with me? Please?"
"Ok." I said while crawling into his bed beside him.
I've missed him so much. He fell asleep before I did and in that time, he started humming in his sleep. I recognized the song immediately, Georgie was humming the melody to 'Stand by Me' by Ben E. King. I wish he'd sung it, I'd love to hear him sing but he won't. I wonder if he sings in the shower, I bet he does. Despite all those thoughts, I fell asleep peacefully in Georgie's arms while he gently hummed 'Stand by Me'.
This morning I woke up to find I was alone. It didn't last long though as Freddie and Georgie came flying in with Charlie's lot of homework from his last six years at Hogwarts. I followed them to the hallway to find that the lot they had in their hands wasn't even half of it and the rest could be found in every room in the house and on every stairs, you almost couldn't see the floor.
"FRED AND GEORGE WEASLEY!!!" Aunt Molly yelled from the bottom of the stairs. "WHAT IS THIS!?"
"What have you done with my homework?!" Charlie called from higher up the stairs gathering all he could grab.
"You've really done it is time boys, Aunt Molly wasn't even this mad about the fireworks on my 12th birthday, or the fireworks at school, or the snails in the professors mugs, or when you two somehow made the floor to a train compartment invisible." I stated very proudly.
"They did what?!" Aunt Molly said.
"Oh! They must not have actually done that one if you didn't hear about it." I said.
"You two are lucky I'm in a good mood because it's Christmas." She continued, mumbling under her breath. "Happy Christmas everyone!"
"HAPPY CHRISTMAS!" George and Fred yelled to everyone. It followed with a deadly glare from Aunt Molly.
We had breakfast as usually and afterwards, Aunt Molly and mom insisted that we open our presents before we go do other things. We all sat in the living room, us children sat in a row on the floor in front of the tree, Charlie, Percy, Fred, me, George, Ron and Ginny. We were each handed a gift and were told to open them all at the same time. As soon as I unwrapped mine I held it up and there it was, an olive green knitted jumper with the letter R in yellow on it. Everyone else held theirs up, Fred's was green with a yellow F on it, George's was also green with a yellow G on it. All the letters were yellow. Charlie's was red, Percy's was blue, Ron's was maroon and Ginny's was a similar blue to Percy's. Gerogie, Freddie and I got into ours faster than we could say 'thank you'. Ginny happily put hers on while Ron stared at his and reluctantly put it on. Percy however, he made it very apparent that it was embarrassing and he wouldn't wear it, until the twins and I put it on him before he could stop us. Charlie put his on after he got dressed and we all spent the day in the jumpers, some happier than others about it.
"Natalie came up with the idea." Aunt Molly said as we opened our presents from my parents.
"And you made it come to life Molly, let credit be given where it's due." Mom stated while giving Aunt Molly a side hug.
Once done with presents, the parents told us we were free to go. I took off my jumper and placed it on Georgie's bed before going to change, but when I came back, my jumper wasn't there.
"Georgie, do you know where my jumper went?" I asked confused.
"Oh! Is this one yours?" He asked turning around to face me with none other than my jumper on.
"How did you not realize that there's a huge R on it?" I laughed.
"You know, you could wear mine. I kind of like yours."
"They're basically the same other than the letter Georgie."
"Exactly, so you wouldn't mind wearing mine then?"
"I guess not." I said while slipping his over my head.
"A bit big but it looks good on you." He said with a smile.
You know, I liked my outfit a lot, washed out jeans with Georgie's jumper and my hair was tied back in a low messy bun. We went downstairs for a snack before going to play games with Ron and Ginny when my mom came into the kitchen for some of the Christmas treats.
"Did you switch jumpers already?" She asked us as a rhetorical question.
"What do you think Aunt Natalie? I like how if I stand on her left you can read the letters as Gr! You know, like a lion." Georgie shot out.
"I like the way you think Georgie, mind if I have a quick chat with Rayne before you head to play games with the little ones?"
"She's all yours and don't let Ron and Ginny hear you call them little ones, don't think they'd like that much." He joked as he left for Ron's room.
"What's the matter Mom?" I asked.
"Dear, I just wanted to chat about that letter you sent me about how you missed Georgie and felt lonely without him."
    "Oh yeah, what about it?"
"I know you're not going to actually believe this right now and that's fine, but I think you like Georgie and he likes you."
"You were right when you said I wouldn't believe it. He's my best friend maman, of course I miss him and feel lonely without him."
    "You're wearing his jumper sweetie."
"As a best friend would do."
"Tell you what, if you and Georgie end up together, I get to say 'I told you so' at your wedding."
"MAMAN! I'm 12! Fine, but there's no telling where life will lead so don't be too disappointed if you don't get to say 'I told you so' at my wedding."
"Yes yes, now go hang out, je t'aime ma ange (I love you my angel)."
The rest of the day flew by, we played cards, wizard chess, we even went outside for a bit and made snow angels. My parents, as well Aunt Molly and Uncle Arthur, gave me the option to either stay at the Weasley's for the rest of the break, or have Fred and George come to our house.
"I wouldn't mind them tearing up someone else's house for a change." Aunt Molly joked.
"Oh Molly, if they haven't completely burned down this house, they can't do much to ours." Dad added.
I ended up deciding that the twins would come stay with us because they haven't seen the new house yet. I helped them pack their trunks and we were heading home in no time. Of course we said goodbye to everyone before leaving.
Once home, I showed the twins around the house while dad brought their trunks to my room. I showed them the kitchen and living room, then my parents bedroom and bathrooms and then the basement. The basement had a spare room but most of the space was our rec room.
"This is sooo cool! Where will we be staying?" Fred asked, turning to me.
"The only room I haven't showed you two yet, my room." I responded, leading them back upstairs, down the hallway and into my room.
"This is your room? It's incredible Rayne!" Georgie told me while looking around at everything.
"We'll figure out where everyone is sleeping later, want to go see the backyard?" I asked them.
    "Sure." They both responded.
We got all our winter gear on and headed out back. There were probably fifty snowmen in the yard from when Amber and Marcus were here. Fred took to naming the few around him and then the next thing we knew, all three of us had named every single one and none had the same names. Mom called us in for dinner and gave us hot chocolate. We told mom and dad the name of every snowman and Fred and George told them about how they like the house. After dinner, all five of us went downstairs to watch a movie. During the movie, my parents disappeared, most likely to their room. Once the movie was over, we headed to my room and decided it was time to discuss who would sleep where.
"There's enough room in my bed for two people so you guys can take my bed and I'll sleep on the air mattress." I stated while setting up the air mattress.
"You and Georgie could share your bed Rayne." Freddie added.
"Look Rayne, Freddie does have a brain after all!" Georgie joked.
"Hey!"
"I guess you're not wrong. If you're fine with sleeping on the air mattress Freddie?"
"Yes, don't worry about me. I'm going to go get changed."
"Did you ask him to say that Georgie?"
"I didn't actually, that's why I teased him about it."
Once Fred came back, Georgie went to get changed. After they were both in pjs and the air mattress was set up, I kicked them out of the room while I changed. I got my pjs on, let them back in and decided to play some music before we go to bed. I'm very 'old souled' as dad says because I like old music and I took mom's old record player when we found it in a box before moving here. I cleaned it up and my parents bought me some records to play. I also have some of them that mom used to listen to, such as Elvis Presley, the Beatles and the Shirelles. I ended up deciding that we'd listen to 'Baby It's You' by the Shirelles, though I have the cover of the song that the Beatles had done and I love both versions equally. I popped the record on and waited for it to start.
*'Baby It's You' starts playing*
"Sha la la la la la..." I started singing.
"Is this the song I think it is Rayne?" Georgie asked.
"Isn't this that Shirelles song that the Beatles covered?" Freddie asked.
Both of them asked as if I'd stop singing to answer them, but really they already knew I wouldn't. Instead of asking again they just joined me. Fred went to the bathroom which ended up making Georgie less embarrassed to 'really' sing with me.
🎵"What can I do?" I sang.
"Can't help myself!" Georgie continued.
"'Cause baby, it's you." We added together.🎵
Once Freddie came back Georgie basically stopped singing and once the song finished, we all crawled into bed.
For the rest of the break that's how our evenings went. Dinner with mom and dad, getting pjs on, jam out to a song or two, then curl up in bed. For me and Georgie, curling up also meant cuddling up and that was that. Everything was great. Then we'll head back to Hogwarts where our normal was quite a bit different for the one we have right now. I'll miss Georgie again once we're back but for now, I'm grateful to be laying with his arms around me.
