Chapter 6

On our way home, we dropped Kim off at her house. She lived a few blocks away from my house. When we arrived home I went straight to my room, feeling bored. I got my laptop and started watching movies. After watching about three movies; the first one was boring. I couldn't even finish it without dozing. The second one got my hair up because it was a horror movie which made me wonder if I would be able to sleep at night, and the last one was an action movie.

I got tired of watching movies, instead I grabbed my phone from the table next to the bed and started going through my Instagram, that's when my phone beeped. I looked on top of the screen, it was a text from Kim.

Kim: how are you feeling after what happened?

I'm fine, I apologize for not speaking to you in the car when we were coming back from the mall, I was just startled by that girl :Me

Kim: yeah I kind of knew that's why I didn't bother to speak as well, so what do you think about that girl, do you think she was sent?

Sent, by whom? Who would want to harm me? I don't have enemies, at least not that I know of. See why I told you not to watch many documentaries? I think she's just some crazy fun who was happy to see me, although I think she jumped on me on purpose :Me

Kim: Yeah , I guess you are right, anyway see you at school tomorrow. Byyyye.

Alright, Bye :Me

Immediately Kim and I stopped texting, I heard footsteps in the hallway. The door swung open, and my mother came in with a worried look on her face, and I knew exactly why she was like that.

“Oh sweetheart I heard what happened to you today, are you okay?” she said while sitting down on the bed.

“Am fine, Mom,” I told her.

“Are you? Really?” she gave me a questioning look with her eyebrows up.

“Yes, Mom, I am fine, see I have no bruises,” I showed her my left arm where I hit the ground.

“Okay if you say so,” she stood up from the bed and started going towards the door, she stopped in her tracks and turned to look at me. “Oh and one more thing, today we are eating out, so you should start getting ready before your father comes, you know he doesn't like being late.”

“Okay.”I told her, then she left.

When my Mom closed the door behind her, I went into my closet to look for a nice dress I could wear for dinner. I started flipping through my clothes and one dress caught my eye, it was a knee-length dark blue dress, I pulled it out and then laid it on my bed. Then I went to look for the shoes, and I picked up my black high heels.

When I was done looking for what to wear for tonight's dinner, I went straight to take a shower.  Didn't take long because I didn't want mom to blame me for being late. I looked at the outfit which my Mom's mother, grandma Bethany, bought for me one last time and I must say, the dress was tailored for me—damn It looks good on me. I thought it was my first time wearing it.

“Sweetheart, I think your dad is here!” my mom shouted from downstairs.

Right on time, I grabbed my purse and phone. “I'm coming, Mom,” I got out of my room. I was excited to go out because my day wasn't productive, I didn't even have an opportunity to talk to my friends because my parents restricted my movements. They were afraid I had been injured and if it wasn't for my protests I would be in the hospital bed. I found my mom waiting for me outside the house, we got in the car, but dad was nowhere to be seen.

“Mom, you said that dad was coming to pick us up. Where is he?” I asked.

“Carlos informed me earlier while you were in your room that your father will be a bit late, his in the meeting.” she said.

“Okay.”

Carlos drove us to a fancy restaurant. It was a tall building with an equal amount of glass and blocks, so we passed through the glass door. Inside was filled with people full of elegance and class, each one probably talking about what they own. It's not much of a surprise to me because I'm used to being in places like this. We were shown our table, immediately we sat down, my Dad came and joined us. The waiter came and we gave him our orders.

“Carlos told me what happened today, that's why I gave him the order not to allow you to go out, and I have also decided to get you another bodyguard,” Dad explained.

“Another bodyguard?” I think I might have said it a bit too loud, because the people at the next table looked at me, but I didn't care. One bodyguard makes me feel uncomfortable, but two… two, honestly I didn't see this coming.

“Yes, but they won't be coming with you at the same time. They will have shifts so you don't need to worry about going everywhere with two bodyguards,” he clarified as if it was going to change the fact that I have two bodyguards. Regardless if they'll be having shifts or not, to me two is two, there is nothing that will change that.

“Is that supposed to make me feel better?” I snapped.

“Watch yourself young lady, it's your father you're speaking to.” Mom said.

“I'm sorry but…."

“No but, just keep quiet,” Mom was now in her no nonsense mood.

And I thought the day couldn't get any worse. We ate in silence, with every bite I took from the food it felt like I was going to choke on the food, thankfully I didn't. We got back to the car and Carlos drove us home.
