░▒▓█ The Hospital

"Mum! I'm thinking my black turtle neck and a leather jacket!" I exclaimed while speaking to her over speaker phone, an hour before that I had bought her flowers and a stuffed animal, I bought her new flowers every week so that they would stay fresh. I sometimes bought a plushie to keep her comfortable, it's been a tradition since I was 12 and started my first job for not much.

"Try your flippy maroon skirt and black stockings." My mother explained. "You should try pairing it with your Nadia underarm bag." She said happily. I grabbed out everything and quickly put it all on.

"Why do you have better fashion sense than I do?" I asked with a laugh. My mother coughed a bit and I heard Yumiko ask if she was okay. "Oh my god, what on earth am I supposed to do when I get there?"

"Try talk." Yumiko made fun of me from over the phone.

"Wow, that was so helpful Yumiko." My mother laughed. "You're clearly a genius." My mother continued to cough and I could hear Yumiko pat her back. "Thank you." I put on my watch and looked at the time.

"Shit it's 6:20!" I slid around my room collecting things to put inside my purse so it doesn't look empty. Almost tripping a few times while I was sliding in my black stockings. I slipped on my nice white sneakers, to dress down the outfit in a nice way.

"It's 6:25, go." My mother yelled loudly so I could hear her. "If you're putting on earrings or necklaces, something like that, then put it on in the cab. Stuff it in your bag." My mother is good at just dates and things like that, her entire life was based off marriage. Just sucks she fell in love with my dad and not someone who would be currently at her side.

I grabbed my phone, took it off speaker and put in my earphones, all while walking down the stairs of my mothers shitty little house (it's more of a townhouse) and out the front to the busy main road. I stuck my hand out and called a taxi towards me, the doors opened and I entered telling the driver where I was going.

"I should've packed you a chastity belt, I don't want you to have sex on a first date." Yumiko jokes, their laughter boomed from over the phone.

"Jesus Christ, I'm not going to do anything of the sort, plus have you met me? I prefer reading over human contact and I always have." I defended my pride.

I ended the call some point at 6:45 to prepare myself and have an interesting conversation with the Taxi driver about all my problems and anxiety, which was just, fucking strange. I think I mentioned how taxi drivers are the new bartenders a few times, just to make a point of 'please god shut up' which naturally he didn't get.

I eventually arrived out the front of an apartment building and looked up and down, eyeing it as I waited for something to happen. This is when I'm supposed to be knocked out or shot, this is unreal, I can't actually going on a date with a stranger who's jacket I basically stole. I walked up through the levels of the apartment block.

I rung the door bell of the apartment and tapped my foot in a ridiculously anxious state, he's cute, cuter than any guy I've ever crushed on. Cuter than any guy I've ever dated, even though I've only ever slightly dated two guys.

The door knob turns and the door opens, I brush down my skirt, stop tapping and fidgeting while fixing my shoes. Just making sure I'm in tip-top condition or even slightly presentable. I smiled as his face greeted me.

"Welcome." He barely smiled. "Come in, come in." He urged me to come inside, which I gladly obliged to. His apartment was relatively nice, not in a homely nice, but in a it looked expensive nice but you could tell a guy lived there. When I mean you could tell a guy lived there, you don't even understand the extent to which I mean. It even smelt like guy.

"It's nice?" I commented.

"You sound unsure." He stated, although he wasn't exactly wrong, I didn't know how to describe it. "What's wrong with my place? It may not be perfect but it's home." He chuckled.

"No! There's nothing wrong with it at all." I smiled. "It's perfectly fine."

"Good, you can leave the coat on the lounge and uh, I cooked." Chuuya laughed. "I have no clue on how but I did, without burning the apartment block down, so that's impressive."

"I'm so proud, that is ridiculously impressive." I laughed with a smile, Chuuya motioned me to follow him, sitting down at the island. Chuuya set down a plate with a cooked meal (I'm not sure what it was, it was a bit deformed but it's the thought that counts), he handed me a glass of red wine.

"It's a bit, messed up and just...eat." Chuuya nervously chuckled.

"So, Chuuya, tell me about yourself. I know next to nothing about you." I smiled, he shook his head while chewing the food in his mouth.

"I don't think that's entirely true, you should know quite a bit about me if you're good at your job." Chuuya chuckled, all sugary traces in his voice had vanished so quickly. "I recognised you after our phone call."

"Oh?" I asked, scared of the next words out of his mouth.

"I was going to say, let this be the start of something good. However, I think for your safety and probably not mine, that we should keep our distance." He was honest and it was depressing. "I'm not saying don't ever come near me, I just think it would be a better idea."

"Considering you're a mafioso and well, I'm a detective." I laughed. "Romeo and Juliet are jealous of us." I took a sip of the wine.

"Of course they are." He lifted up the wine glass to his lips and he took a sip. My phone rang suddenly, Chuuya picked up my phone and looked at the caller ID.

"Your mother is calling you." Chuuya announced, handing me the phone. "You can answer that if you must."

"Oh thank you, I'll be right back." I commented, taking the phone and picking up.

"Y/N." Yumiko's voice said, saddened.

"Yumiko?" I asked.

"Just listen, okay?" She had asked for confirmation.

"If I must!" I smiled at Chuuya as his eyes traced my body, it wasn't a bad stare but a genuine stare, one that doesn't creep people out.

"She didn't want to tell you, but, her cancer? Is much worse then she is letting on. If she find out I told you, she'll kill me." Yumiko said in a hushed tone.

"You're kidding?" I asked, I could hear myself gasp, that's ridiculously terrible.  "Fuck off you're kidding, wait shit I didn't mean fuck off like how it came off." I felt my breathing become unhinged and shaky.

"No, I'm really not." Yumiko's voice started to tremble. "The doctors found something and they told her that she shouldn't have too long but she refused to tell you." She warned me about my mothers current state.

"Thank you for telling me Yumiko, if she passes you'll be my only family, you know that right? You have to stay in touch." I told her with a sense of venerability.

"Of course I will, she touched up on her will and you're basically getting everything she owns." She made me aware of what my mothers thoughts were. "I hope you're planning on keeping in touch as well." She hung up the phone before I could respond.

"What was that about?" Chuuya asked.

"Oh, nothing really, I'm just worried that I'll have to run into my father again." I chuckled, rubbing the back of my neck while a tone dripping in anxiousness. I couldn't muster the courage to do anything like that.
