"Are you heading to the roof?" Dr Carlson asked

"Are you heading to the roof?" Dr Carlson asked.

I gave him a side-eye. "Should I even ask how you know?"

"Well," he said. "It might be the fancy Range Rover that's parked in front of the hospital or......maybe because you're smiling like an idiot."

"I am not!"

"You're so love stuck, it's adorable."

"Oh, you want to talk about being lovestruck?!" I pointed between him and me, returning the grin with malicious glee. "Hello, Pot. Kettle speaking."

"Har har." He said, crossing his arms.

"Andre, could you come to assist me with this patient?" Dr Franz stuck her head out into the hallway, her eyes lighting up as soon as she saw Dr Carlson. "This one is a bit tricky and I'd rather not get in trouble."

"Yeah, Andre." I nudged him with my shoulder, barely holding back my laughter. "Shouldn't you be helping?"

He gave me a dirty look before disappearing behind the door. "Shouldn't you be meeting up with your boyfriend?"

I couldn't help but smile when he said that word. I never understood the phrase 'butterflies in your stomach' until now. Just the idea of seeing Ivan again made me happy. A smile crept on my face again but I didn't bother to hide it as I made my way up the stairs to the roof.

"Oh, for the love of God. Please don't! And you call me whipped!"

I laughed as I got into the elevator. I headed up straight towards the roof.  I sat down on the roof, watching the birds fly overhead. It was mid-summer, and the heat was almost scalding.

Days like this reminded me of home. I hoped there would be more days like this.

Ivan was already there, leaning against the wall.

"Hey, sweetheart!"  Ivan turned around when he heard my footsteps.

I noticed that his tie was loose around his neck. He was dressed in a white button shirt that cling to his shoulder and charcoal slacks. His jacket was draped over his arm.

He looked good. Like really, really good. My eyes raked across him, stopping at his when I realized I had been checking him out.

"Hi!" I said, breaking myself out of a daze. "You look handsome today."

"Thank you." His cheeks were flushed pink. "And you look lovely."
