I've been restless all week and it's beginning to show.

Everyone's noticed, even my assistant. There was a cup of tea and my favourite bagel on my desk when I arrived in the morning. I made a mental note to give my PA a raise as I took a small sip. The semi-sweet liquid warmed my chest.

I don't know why I felt so anxious. It wasn't like this was my first date.

My last date had been two years ago and it had been a complete fucking disaster. My Mother set up a date—at my father's insistence—between a young lady that was her daughter's friend and me. The date had been more about her discussing business rather than trying to get to know each other. She was beautiful, almost model-like but everything we talked about felt superficial, I could've dated her for the sake of my parents but then it would feel like pulling teeth. Should I have given her a chance? Maybe. But why should I force myself to feel something when I felt nothing for the person across from me, I barely felt any sort of attraction and this woman was a certified model.

Thirty minutes in and three courses later, I called it quits. There was nothing between us and I wasn't going to be a dick by ditching my date by crawling out the bathroom window. So when she suggested another date, I gave a casual reply of 'let me check my schedule' and booked it as fast as I could out of there with my guards. Safe to say, my mother wasn't happy when I got back home.

And now that everyone had learned that Meera and I had a date this Friday, it meant unnecessary advice about...... well, dating. I don't think I'll ever recover from the sheer humiliation of my mother asking me if I need the family ring for Meera during breakfast.

Anya had given me a more terrifying version of the shovel talk that I don't want to ever experience again.

Nik just gave me a box of condoms, patted me on the shoulder and solemnly told me to use protection.

Nat had just threatened to kill me. That was probably the most semi-normal thing that happened this week.

Dimitri had just nodded in approval when I told him I'd be busy on Friday night and gave me a thumbs up.

Irina just asked when I would bring Meera over, her eyes dancing in excitement at meeting her hero.

"So," Eddie had this shit-eating grin on his face that made me want to punch him. "Any special arrangements I should make, Boss?"

"No," I said, rubbing my temples. "We're going to the beach. I doubt there's any need for 'arrangements' as you put it."

"Flowers?"

"I'm handling that." I glanced down at my watch. "I know a nice florist."

"So...that's a no to the Hotel room?"

I just sighed. "No."

We just got together and I'm not the type to have sex with someone on the first date without getting to know them. Then again, it is Meera and we've known each other for months but still...it was way too soon.
