This was the second time I woke up in Ivan's bed naked. Not that I was complaining but the more sore parts of my body certainly were.

I lifted my head up, glancing around at the blurry room and turned into my side. Ivan had his back to me, my arm wrapped around his waist tightly. I pressed a kiss between his shoulder blades, snuggling closer to him to keep warm.

I couldn't go back to sleep no matter how hard I tried. Eventually the sun rose and it's rays of light spilled into Ivan's room. I felt his breathing change as he woke up, turning over to face me so that the light wasn't on his face. My hands smoothed out his messy hair. Ivan leaned into my touch, his eyes were closed but there was a ghost of a smile on his lips.

He reminded me of Pharaoh when he wanted to be petted.

"You can stop pretending now," I said, pressing my thumbs to his temple. "I know you're awake, dear."

He cracked one eye open before closing it. "You're the one who's always telling me to sleep in."

"Only, when you don't have massive piles of work to finish."

"Very funny."

"I am," I kissed his cheek and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. "Let's go. There's a lot todo and—"

Ivan tugged me back down into his warm embrace, his arm wrappinf around my waist to keep me from squirming away. He held my hand in his, our fingers entwined. "Stay. Just for five more minutes and then we can deal with the rest of the world."

"You're being clingy today," I said, cupping his face in my hands.

"I'm worried about you." He twirled a stray strand of my hair, his fingertips grazing my cheek. "I don't doubt your conviction or your strength, I know more than anyone else just how determined you are. My greatest fear is losing the people I care about the most."

I wanted to tell him that I loved him but the words were stuck in my throat. Falling in love with Ivan wasn't a sudden swan dive, it was slow and gradually like sand in an hourglass. I love him.

When everything was over, when we're safe and happy, I'll tell him those three words and watch his eyes light up with happiness.

I leaned down to kiss his lips. "You're enough. This is enough."

"Am I? I'm not good with expressing myself."

"That's okay. Neither am I. We can learn together."

"No, it's not. You're my girlfriend." Ivan said. "And I trust you and you trust me. Even if it's difficult, we should always be transparent with each other."

I tightened my arms around him, resting my cheek on his shoulder. "Ivan, you can tell me anything. Realistically, I don't expect you to tell me everything...just tell me what's bothering you."
