Ch 30 A Sad Relization

Qrow and Tai was right outside Ruby's room discussing how the two should break the news to her about you.

Tai: And? Look I know that this is important but there is more problems that's happening right now. How will we tell Ruby?

Qrow: Well we can't lie. That's for sure, so it only leaves us telling her what happened. He died so that others can live.

Tai: I hope Ruby can handle this a second time.

Qrow: The pipsqueak will and you will be there for her.

Tai: Okay, okay just tell her about the silver eyes later.

Qrow: I'm not going to thrust it onto her. I will. She's gotta know but not right now.

The talk stopped as they heard Ruby standing from her bed.

Ruby: Dad?

Entering the room they see Ruby distraught. Qrow looks to Tai signaling him to put Ruby back to her bed to prepare her for the news.

Tai: Ruby, sweetie. You need to sit down for this.

Ruby: Where's Y/N? I need to see him. Is he in the restroom? Y/N! Where are you?

Helping Ruby back to bed, sitting besides her Tai started parting her back to comfort Ruby for what is to come.

Ruby: Where is Y/N? He should be right besides me, holding my hand until I wake.

Tai: Y/N.... Y/N is... Qrow only found this.

Tai took out your scarf placing it onto Ruby's hands. She immediately recognized the black and white scarf. Though oddly it was stained with some blood.

Ruby: This is Y/N's scarf. Why is there blood on it?

Qrow: Now we aren't saying he's gone but we couldn't find a body.

It dawned on her what her uncle was basically insinuating that you may be dead. Ruby went into complete denial.

Ruby: Wha- No! NO!!! Y-Y/N... Y/N can't be gone. HE CAN'T! Not like Penny.

Breaking into tears Tai went into work trying to console her. Hugging his daughter was the only thing he can do at the moment.

Ruby: I-It It's not fair! He can't be gone! Not like this.... not like the heroes sacrificing themselves in the stories.

Qrow: I said I couldn't find a body so there's a chance Y/N is alive. If what Ozpin said was true he's likely alive. Some people don't die no matter how hard some try.

Hearing that Ruby remembered a night long ago back when she was doing her question game of getting to know you better.

She remembered how the two of you were in bed. Her hugging you asking a question that just popped in her head.

Ruby: Y/N.

Y/N: Yes Tootsie Pop?

Seeing Ruby's serious face you immediately knew this wasn't a normal question.

Ruby: I know this may sound rather odd but what if something were to happen to you?

Y/N: Ruby, to the best of my ability I would never let that happen.

Ruby: But what if it does? I never thought I would find someone at Beacon but now... I'm scared if something does happen to you.

Y/N: You do not think I feel the same way? Ruby, spite is a powerful motivator. I won't die just to annoy my attacker.
