Chapter 8:

Befriending McKinnon

,,Rise and shine! Wake up, wake up, wake up!"

A cheery voice woke Jasmine that morning from her slumber.

,,Good morning!"

Jasmine yawned at Alice, who was grinning, while changing:

,,We've got Potions first, and it's the best to make a good impression at Professor Slughorn!"

Jasmine rubbed her eyes as she got out of bed

,,She's right!" A girl with blonde hair, blue eyes and red lips spoke up. ,,My name is Marlene McKinnon—" she added under Jasmine's questioning gaze ,,—and it's true. Slughorn throws parties for his favorite an bests students, and they're awesome. If you want to be there you need to get on his good side. They call it...'The Slug-Club' "

The three girls burst about laughing at 'The Slug-Club' and had a hard time stopping.

,,Who is in there?"

Jasmine asked once she stopped laughing.

,,Oh well, there's Lily, Severus Snape, Regulus Black, Narciza Black, Lucius Malfoy, Marlene, Remus Lupin and me." Alice said ,,You know, I always thought Potter and Black should be there too, but I guess they have to many detentions for that..."

,,How come?"

,,Well, I have noticed that they are super smart, but they hide it with their pranks. Like in our second year, Potter performed the Protean Charm, and we are supposed to learn that this year! Or once Black produced a corporal patronus in our third year! Don't tell them I said that, though" Alice added quickly ,,They will annoy me for the rest of my life otherwise!"

Once they were changing they left the dorm and made their way to the Great Hall

,,Are there more people in our dorm? Apart from you two and Lily?"

Marlene nodded, while waving flirty at a boy who was looking at her. Marlene, Jasmine suspected, was the popular girl that never falls in love, dates thousands of guys and flirts with everybody. Her suspicion was proved true when Marlene left three buttons of her uniform open, reveling the top of her bra and instead of wearing school shoes or boots, she put scarlet high heels on.

,,Yes, Mary McDonald. She can be pretty nice, but she is Lily's biggest fan. Sometimes it really gets on my nerves you know? The entire time 'Lily do you need anything?' 'Lily you're so amazing'. Ugh!"

The two girls laughed at Marlene's high pinched voice and made their way through the corridors.

,,Jasmine?"

Alice suddenly asked

,,Yes?"

,,Can we call you Jas?"

Jasmine nodded

,,Sure, but...then I can call you Ali and you Mar. Deal?"

Marlene nudged her with her elbow as they entered the Great Hall.

,,Oh, the girl knows how to merchandise! Deal"

They sat at the Gryffindor table and started eating their breakfast.

,,Jas? What is going on between you and Lily?"

Jasmine stiffened a little bit, but managed to hide it.

,,What do you mean?"

,,Well..." Marlene looked at Lily, who was chatting with a girl that Jasmine assumed was Mary McDonald ,,One, she is glaring at you the entire time, two she was hissing something at you yesterday and three she does not seem happy that you are here. Look at how she has a murderous look on her face! It is as if the 'sweet, little Lily' we know, has disappeared"

,,Well, we -Lily and I- are not the best twins." She couldn't use words to explain everything, so Jasmine chose it say just a little part of the truth ,,We have our...differences, you know?"

Marlene nodded unconvincingly, but dropped the subject as they made their way to potions.
