Chapter 17:

Confrontation

That same night, after the decorations were set, and they returned to Hogwarts, Remus confronted him in the Headboy dorm:

,,What was that all about?"

,,What?" James asked confused. Remus rolled his eyes at his friend:

,,At Hogsmeade? Jasmine?" James was still looking confused at him. Remus sighed:

,,You called her m'lady and bowed, gentleman. You never bow before any girl. Not even Lily."

James shrugged: ,,So?"

Remus looked weirdly at him: ,,What kind of flower did you smell in Amortentia?"

,,I already told you, I don't know" Remus looked sternly at him

,,Fine! I smelled jasmines, so what?"

Remus shook his head at his oblivious friend.

,,So? First you bow before Jasmine, next you smell jasmine flowers, isn't it obvious?"

,,What obvious?" James asked and Remus huffed exasperated. James was, along with Sirius, the smartest student at school, yet, he was totally oblivious when it came to relationships.

,,That you like her" James' jaw fell open ,, No, don't you dare to interrupt—" he said when he saw his friend ,,—I see the way you look at her. So adoringly somehow...it's creepy actually. Then, Amortentia makes you smell jasmine flowers, which causally is Jasmine's name, not to mention that you are both the Heads and Slughorn paired you together. Everybody in their sane mind noticed. Even the teachers"

,,But-but that's impossible!" James insisted

,,Then why did you stop asking Lily out?"

,,Because of what we heard! Apparently so many fake things, besides, she made Jasmine cry"

,,Aha!" Remus grinned ,,She made her cry and you stopped! Admit Prongs, you like her. You two are perfect fir each other"

,,No, I don't. Even if I did, she would probably never like me back"

Remus groaned:,,Since when is James bloody Potter so pessimistic? Only another prove. Besides, she said she smelled an animal, What if it was a stag? Or a cloak. How many people smell cloaks? I bet it was your invisibility cloak"

James shook his head: ,,You're wrong", while slightly blushing, an action that didn't past unnoticed by Remus.

,,We'll see about that" Remus muttered as he left the dorm.

The decorations were finally ready! James felt so relieved. Even if he was Headboy, Jasmine had been forcing him and the other prefects to decorate the Hall the entire afternoon. Once they were done, they all started chatting and James saw Jasmine talking with Narciza Black, a Slytherin in their Year. Both girls seemed to be having the chat of their life and were soon joined by Bellatrix Black and Snape, who apparently made them all laugh. James didn't like Snape near Jasmine.

After his conversation with Remus, James didn't know what to feel. It was all so...weird. Besides, it seemed impossible. He wasn't in love with Jasmine Evans. Then why did you blush? A voice inside his head said James Potter never blushes.

Shut up! He thought to the voice and made early his way to the Headboys dorm. There, he had agreed on changing with the other Marauders. He walked to the wall and mugged the new password (Potter is annoying.Guess whose idea it was) Jasmine had changed it while he wasn't there, and now the wall wouldn't let him through unless he said it.

Back to Jasmine's POV (when they finished the decorations):

Jasmine was exhausted.

,,Fantastic work, guys!" She said ,,The Hall will look splendid!"

Slowly, all the prefects left, except for the two girls (Narciza and Bellatrix) from potions class and Severus.

,,Hello! My name is Narciza Black, and this is my sister Bellatrix!" The blonde one introduced them ,,You really have done a great job!"

She congratulated her.

,,Thanks!" Jasmine said ,,It wouldn't be possible without your help. Besides, let's see how it looks this night!"

Bellatrix grinned: ,,It will look awesome, just relax"

,,More awesome than me?"

Severus asked in a mock voice, attempting to imitate Potter. This caused the three girls to burst into laugher.

,,Have you got your costumes?" Bellatrix asked them, and they all nodded as an awkward silence fell upon them and Severus left

,,Girls?" Jasmine asked hesitantly

,,Yes?"

,,Do you want to change with me at the Headgirl room? There we will have more space"

The two sisters exchanged a look before smiling widely: ,,Of course!"
