Chapter 24:

Party moments

Black, surprised, took a step back, before grinning widely (like a madman) and yelling thanks.

Music started, people danced, everything was normal, like you expected a party to be.

Jasmine was discretely sipping some Firewhiskey, when she heard a familiar voice: ,,What really you doing here?"

She didn't even have turn around to know who it was:

,,I was invited, Lillian. Got a problem with it?"

She could practically hear Lily scowl.

,,You really are stubborn, aren't you? Thinking you have a chance..."

Jasmine mentally rolled her eyes at Lily.

,,What do you want?" she asked tired.

,,Nothing, just talk with my little twin sister" replied Lily.

Jasmine sighed. She was sick of Lily constantly appearing to 'talk' to her.

,,Lillian Bluebell Evans, I am not stupid. Just admit whatever you truly want!"

Lily huffed angrily: ,,Don't talk to me in that tone! Who do you think you are?! Talking to me like that!Hmph!"

,,Lillian..."

,,Fine!" she hissed, before throwing looks around the two of them. When she saw nobody looking she said: ,,It's actually the same thing as before. Stop trying to get between me and James!"

Jasmine raised her eyebrows, as her sister continued:

,,I've told you once, and I am telling you again. You don't have a chance, why don't you just give up?"

,,Because it is absurd!" exclaimed Jasmine ,,I don't even like him like that!"

But as soon as those words left her mouth, she knew it was lie.

,,It is not absurd! And you do like him Jasmine Emerald! I am not stupid!"

,,Well, you're acting like it!" said Jasmine ,,First you taunt me for 'not being invited', then you give me a speech about how you are going to manipulate him, next you threaten me and now you won't let me enjoy myself!"

Lily laughed coldly. Harshly.

,,Oh, please! As if it was something bad!" she hissed ,,You'll regret your words, Jasmine Emerald Evans." she said ,,Oh, you will regret them."

And she walked off, leaving Jasmine alone to observe the dance floor.

Right in the middle, there were Marlene and Black, flirting with each other and dancing wildly. A little bit to the left, Jasmine spotted Alice, who was talking with a brunette boy. The way she was blushing let Jasmine guess that that was Frank Longbottom.
To their right, Remus was eating chocolate, Potter trying to force him dance, Pettigrew staring in awe at his heroes, in a few corners there were giggling girls, under them Lily, who, by the look in her face, was planning something, and that something was not good.

After a while of dancing here and there, the moment the clock reached midnight, entire room sang 'Happy birthday' to Black (who was looking very, very, very happy) and started eating a few snacks on the tables.

The party was well planned. And Jasmine was truly enjoying herself.

,,Come on Jas!" shouted a drunk Marlene ,,Dance!"

A bit doubtfully, Jasmine walked over to her wild friend, who was giggling madly to herself.

,,I think that's enough, Mar" said Jasmine when Marlene attempted to grab another bottle of Firewhiskey.

,,Oh, but Jas!" wined Marlene.

,,No"

,,Please!"

,,No" Jasmine grabbed the bottle and put it on the other side of the table ,,C'mon Mar, you need to go to bed and rest"

But Marlene didn't move. She was staring at something, or rather someone. She remained inmovile, ignoring Jasmine's calls.

Finally, Jasmine followed her gaze, and froze herself.

In the middle of the dance floor, nobody else but James Potter and Lily Evans...
