The Vienna Summit, 1961

Jack was in his room, pacing. He was getting ready for the summit, which was scary for him. What if Kruschev was...

Stop it, Jack told himself. He's not a time traveler, he can't be.

Jack dressed in a suit and headed outside after drinking some pills and swallowing them dry. He injected his back with a painkiller and headed out of the room. His back was aching like hell and he was grumpy and tired like he'd been in his past life.

He was flanked by the translator as she showed him the room. She locked the door behind them. Jack saw Kruschev staring out the window.

Jack cleared his throat and nodded at the translator to leave. Ever since he had woken up in the past, Jack had secretly learned how to speak and read in Russian.

"Mr. Chairman." Jack said calmly. Kruschev turned around as the translator left. "How are you?"

"Mr. President." Kruschev held out his hand as did Jack. "Shall we begin?"

Jack nodded and sat down. The seating eased his aching back. He needed Jackie, but she was with the Soviet's wife. Jack mentally sighed. He was stuck with the old man.

Jack noticed Kruschev was staring at him. Jack stared back at him. "So," the president began, his voice dripping with hope, "is there anything we can do about Vietnam?" He didn't want Lyndon shedding blood there. It wasn't worth it.

Jack wasn't stunned at Kruschev's reply. Two hours later, they were still bickering and Jack decided to call it a night. He left for his room. His back was aching and sore like hell. Jackie was in the bath. Jack chucked his tie at the desk before changing into shorts and waiting for Jackie.

Jackie came out wearing a green nightgown. She looked at Jack with a smile. She was happy. "How'd it go?"

"He bullied me," Jack replied. "I was ready for it though." He smiled.

She smiled and wiped her makeoff. "Jack...when will we go back home? When does the crisis start?"

"It'll be in a year." He ran his hands through his hair. "I'm not ready, Jackie...what if I mess up again? What if the U.S. fails?"

"We won't," Jackie replied fiercely. "We know what happens...nothing can stop us now..."

Jack nodded and looked at the clock in the room. He yawned. "I'm going to bed, Jackie." He gave her a cheeky grin before going to change.

The First Couple, unknown to them, did not know that Clint had been outside, eavesdropping on their conversation.
