Charlie's life was fairly simple; he was brought up fairly by his mum and dad with his younger sister and older brother. He was brought up in London, England, and then later moved to New York by himself - his brother soon followed over for his own job later on in Charlie's life -. Charlie was quite the troublemaker as a child; him and his brother always getting into trouble. In his teens, Charlie decided to go to college and study Law - to become a homicidal detective, which was what he was now, as crime was something he was interested in -. Charlie watched quite a lot of crime shows such as: CSI or Midsomer Murders and when it came to learning this sort of thing in school, Charlie was always listening, but did tend to cause a bit of mischief here and there. His grades all the way through school were brilliant and he worked hard to maintain them.

At the age of 15, Charlie's dad died of Cancer. He didn't really have a close relationship with his dad, but he still felt heartbroken about his father's death. Charlie stayed strong though and helped his mother through it - as his older brother had moved out by then - all. Charlie was the type of man who would stick by anyone who needed help and he always gave it to them, no matter who they were. Charlie later finished high school, going to one of the colleges in London. Just before Charlie had finished college, his mother died, and because he did have a close relationship with her (his father's death helped make the bond a lot stronger), he was extremely broken-hearted - he had thought of self-harming many times, but he never took action -; what helped him through his mother's death was his brother. Due to his mother's death, Charlie and his sister drew apart, but Charlie and his brother drew closer as they did.

Charlie finished college and moved to New York, once he had enough money to go. He did have girlfriends along the way, and he started off as a police officer - which was how he met Olly Murs - at the age of 18; because one of Charlie's girlfriends was a big fan, he took her to meet him (he had to look out for Olly, guarding him or his property, so he and Olly grew quite close - in fact sort of like brothers)-. Charlie found out that this girlfriend only wanted to be with him because he looked out for Olly, who he stayed close too, and didn't want to be with him because she loved him for him, so he broke it off with her, knowing she didn't actually love him.

Only just affording a small apartment, for himself and his dog -Bolt -, Charlie was able to move to New York, with the help of his brother. Charlie had joined up at the force there, and quickly promoted to his dream job - a homicidal detective -. The boss at the station had thought Charlie was a brilliant detective and that he had amazing skills; Charlie was a hard worker, but he looked out for others more than himself.

About 2-3 years in to the force, Charlie got assigned a partner, Cat Harrison. At first he wasn't too sure because he had worked alone for so long, but as soon as he saw her and he saw her in action - he accepted her as his new partner. At first they didn't get along. Cat and Charlie made a great team; Charlie began to develop feelings for his new partner (and it looked as if she felt the same way too) as they worked. They made a close bond, which Charlie noticed it was quite hard to make considering she didn't like to get close to people and that she kept to herself, and became best friends.

Cat's childhood was quite rough - due to her dad being an alcoholic and every time he came home from drinking, he would abuse Catherine and her mother. Her family were fairly rich, so it wasn't financial problems that caused her father to drink. Catherine was an only child and took most of the beatings. This is one of the reasons she was quiet in her teens and adulthood.

In high school, Cat would tend to stick with a small group of friends; her best friend always kept his eye on her and looked out for her. That was until he ended up in a car crash. He died on the spot and from that moment on Cat was alone.

That was, until after college, when she entered the New York Police force. It took some time and she needed more experience than the men to get the dream role she wanted (homicidal detective), but she made it in the end. She also made a few close friends including her best friend, Debra. Debra was 5 months pregnant when they met, but when they quickly became friends, she made Cat her daughter's auntie. Cat often babysat for Debra when she could.

Her boss quickly saw how great she was at solving her cases and how easily she handled them. He promoted her to detective within a month. She was also put with a partner, Charlie Barker. At first, she thought he was over confident and too flirty with the ladies in the force, but upon getting to know him. She found he was actually really sweet and really sensitive underneath that act of his. Now, they're best friends. Charlie would also help look after Debra's daughter with Cat. He would always look out for her, as she did for him.
