Sorry I took so long!
------

"Why did you take so long!" Avril is pissed.

I admit I was taking a little too long in the shampooing process... Maybe went a little crazy with the hair gel, but hair don't stand up like this and look smashing on its own, mate. So 'because of me', we had to be dodgy to escape fangirls that were early. It was fun sneaking out like this, but Avril didn't seem to think so. Me and my mates had done this a couple times at some concerts because we were in a major rush. And a rush it gave me. I decide to ignore her question.

She mumbles. "Seems like a person with giraffe boxers wouldn't care about how they look."

"Hush!" I felt my body heat with embarrassment. She shrugs.

We were walking down a quiet town's street path. The school was pretty secluded, being that the whole plot of land is private. The school in the centre of it, thus far from any other signs of life. Avril had to show me the way. Of course, we took a car out plus driver but she chose to go quite a distance on foot. Said something about fresh air. I was thankful for her decision. This was the most freedom I had received for quite some time.

"Hi!" A person says, almost excited as she looks at Avril, then to me. This is the longest I've ever gone without meeting a fan, but I wouldn't mind taking a picture or two. I was in a good mood.

I give her one of my picture ready smiles, looking to Avril, then back to her. For some reason Avril was shaking her head at me, eyes a little wide. She must not know a directioner when she sees one.

"Would you like a picture?" I say. I was also prepared for when fans got stunned when meeting me.

"Why would I?" The girl looks at me like I was bonkers. "I want to pass through, excuse me-"

"Oh!" Embarrassment fills me. I held in what remaining dignity I had left as I let her pass through us, my back pressed against a wall. The walkway was just right for two, but no more than that.

" -thank you!"

She hurriedly ran off, never looking back. I look to Avril as her hand palms her forehead. She doesn't say a word though, because I was already embarrassed enough. Would you like a picture? Who was I to think that everyone wanted something to do with me.

As I soon came to realize, the people here didn't know who we were, or just didn't mind us at all. We must've just been one of the many travelers that wandered around that they wanted to sell their goods to.

"This place is beautiful." I commented in awe. Little shops showcased what they had to offer in their small display windows. Colors of the shops' walls were of faded color which made this place seem so gentle, inviting like autumn time. What the school looks like as comparison was a cold and cruel environment of high class.

"I know." Avril smiles as she takes me into one shop.

The shop bell rings as we open the door and I found myself in a bakery. The smell of freshly baked bread fills my senses.

"Avril." The baker boy seems to know her. Fan?

"Hey Phil." She smiles back. No, friends.

The boy comes out from behind the counter and pulls his flour-splattered apron up and over his head, making his way to her. Boyfriend?

Avril meets him halfway, grinning and they envelope in a hug. I look away. I was intruding on them like shit.

"Who is this?" He says. He must be referring to me.

"Niall. My friend."

My friend. I looked to her cautiously.

"Hello there, Niall. I'm Phil." He puts out an arm.

Just when I was about to put out mine, I was embraced in a hug. Okay, so maybe not boyfriend.

"So, how long have you been in this school?" I questioned her. We were now at a cafe. I had dug into the food, and she was sipping on her drink.

I was interested to know the answer because my statement earlier about the people not knowing us was proven wrong countless of times. They seem to know Avril, on quite a personal level. I was the stranger. The girl before was saying hi to her, not me. I felt fucking stupid.

"Quite a while."

"About?"

"Well." She doesn't tell me anything about the years. "I've been signed to the school's record label company."

Wow.

"How did you do it? Did they give you a scholarship too?"

"Is this 21 questions or something?" She arches one of her brows. "Well, I thought myself to play guitar, then I performed in local festivals, events back in Canada. I was found out when I was 14 in a bookstore, singing. I was brought here ever since."

"Okay another question. Are you-"

I was interrupted when my phone rings, making me jump a little. I looked to her, apologetic.

"-Hello?"

"Yo it's me, Justin."

My heart beat sped up. The other side of the phone sound epic. Music pumping, people laughing. I remembered him asking for my number but I never thought he'd use it. Bloody hell.

"Hey mate."

"We're like having this crazy party at a place I rented out. Come, man."

"I'll be there." I said immediately, grinning. I'm not stupid enough to say no. "Text me the details, alright thanks."

Avril looks at me, questioning as I put down the phone. My face couldn't get any more red.

"What did you do.."

"You could say, Bieber invited us to a party."

She puts down her drink. "No. Way."

I laughed. "Yes way."
