"You want me to what?!"
"It's simple, Avril."
I knew he wanted something from me. It really couldn't be just me and him having a bonding session, could it.
He looks down at his paper, scribbling away. "Just make sure that-"
"No."
He opens his mouth. He slowly looks to me.
"What?"
"No. I won't do it."
"It's just a small thing."
"How would you even know that I hang with him?"
"Nothing gets past me." He sighs.
That churned a bad feeling in my stomach.
"Wait, you've been spying on me?"
His eyes widens, but doesn't say anything.
"You have been spying on me!" I exclaimed. I stood. "You promised you wouldn't."
"I didn't spy on you."
Then I stared him down. "Really."
He shrugs. "I got people for that."
"DAD!" I yell. Oh my-
"You know how much endorsement you'll get if you do this; the school even more so!" He rubs his temples. "And you with that boy seems to make you happy."
"I'm leaving."
And I did.
As I walked down the squeaky clean halls, my cheeks heated up.. Thinking about what my father asked of me.
"Thank you, Mr. Lavigne."
"So..." I pursed my lips.
Silence.
"So..." Dad says.
"How have you been nowadays." He settles in his chair comfortably a and clears his throat. I look at him, suspiciously.
"Well, it's been fine." I slowly start out. "I'm waiting to get out of this hellhole."
"For that you'd need your final year project. You know that."
I nodded and said nothing more. I honestly haven't gotten started at it at all.
"So... Any friends?"
And basically it went down hill from there. He started asking about Niall being new to the school and I talked about how we actually hung out. He prodded me to go on and I did. It's stupid how good I felt just talking to my dad about my feelings. Especially when I realised he knew everything and had motive to pair both of us up.
How embarrassing. I felt big, fat rolls of tears falling down my cheek as my heart clenches. My vision blurs and I quickly try to blink the tears away from my eyes. I bumped into someone.
I fell backwards but got caught by the waist. I gasp in surprise.
I wiped away my tears and realised that the person who caught me was Niall. I bit my lip.
"What's wrong?" He asks, concerned.
His voice caused anger to course through my veins and I pushed him away from me. He's the reason why I'm like this. If he wasn't here, my father wouldn't expect something so scandalous as this from me. I wouldn't be in this position now. It's all his fault. I tried to walk away quickly.
"Avril." He catches up to me, hand grabbing my lower arm.
"No!" I shake him off as I stopped. "Just go away. Please."
His eyes searched mine. I just look back at him, eyes on eyes, vulnerable. Go. Away.
"Fine. But this," He sighs, and gestures to all of me. "Is not okay. You're not okay."
He turns to leave. He's actually leaving. He's not going to try to fight me? Just like that? I suddenly felt an ounce of guilt. I felt like an asshole.
"Wait!"
He turns, eyebrows raised.
"Maybe..." I cleared my throat, awkward. "Maybe we can talk about this later? It's just.. Right now I need to be by myself to think."
He blinked. "3pm. Fountain at the school park."
I nodded quickly, a lump in my throat.
"See you."
And he walked away.
I was surprised at how he could make me from totally angry and wanting nothing to do with him to suddenly missing him. I sniffed and whispered back, "See you."
